We ordered 2 roast beef dinners, I asked what it came with and the lady gave a great description of Yorkshire puddings, choice of potatoes etc. She then came back and said they had run out of beef but had lamb, lovely we said lamb was fine. When it came 3 slices of lamb ok, tasteless look warm gravy only on the lamb, 3 small white roasties, couple of table spoons of dry skirlie, couple of small bits of broccoli and a table spoon of carrots. When I asked about the Yorkshire pudding, that was only available with the roast beef. My dad says it was fine but it really wasn’t. Drinks were in small tall glasses with ice, I asked for more drinks in 1/2 pint glasses to be told they were 1/2 pint glasses, no they weren’t. So the next size was a pint so I said ok but I didn’t really want a pint of Diet Coke I just wanted a decent drink. Whole experience was really stressful, came out unsatisfied and still hungry. The place was incredibly busy and other people’s food look great. Roast beef dinners, gravy and lovely big Yorkshire puddings. Sorry won’t be back, will spend my hard earned...

A friend and I had our first social distance lunch at a pub today and we made a good choice in The Ploughman. Outside dining all well set up with an area to wait to be seated and a nice friendly owner to welcome us. I had emailed earlier in the morning to book a table and received a swift reply saying they were looking forward to seeing us. Thebarcode menu could be scanned on our phones from our table and the waitress promptly took a drinks order which was delivered to us just as the waitress for the food order arrived. They have an extensive menu and looking at the plates going to other tables they were very generous helpings. We ordered sandwiches as we were out for a walk and a full meal would have been too much however the sandwiches did not disappoint. My friend had very nice ham and mustard while I opted for the roast beef which was absolutely delicious with really thick cut beef. Good food and top service from an...

Instead of always trying out chain restaurants, I love trying little pubs/restaurants close to home. The Ploughman is definitely one to remember, it is family run pub/restaurant that has a large menu full of hearty homemade meals fit for all the family. Myself and my Girlfriend started off with the haggis bon bons to share which were full of flavour and well presented, as for mains: my other half had the haddock mornay, I had the chicken goujons and chips which only appear as a starter on the menu but can be made into a main course if asked. The food came out in no time, freshly cooked and roasting hot.

The Ploughman is definitely a hidden gem, the food is slightly pricey but tastes great and will keep me coming back for more. They have free onsite parking and a pub attached, I do recommend phoning to book a table as it can be really busy in the evenings...

First visit to the Ploughman's definitely won't be the last. After a warm welcome we chose nachos and haggis bon bons to start, both we're a good size portion and delicious . Then onto mains ribeye steak, king prawn and mango curry, and beef olives everything was piping hot and obviously freshly made. My son said his steak was cooked to perfection, my beef olives were amazing with mash and lots of gravy beef was super tender. My wife's curry came with half rice half chips and was simply delicious not spicy but full of flavour. And after all that we had to try the famous sticky toffee pudding once again it was lovely piping hot and really tasty. Recommend you book a table it was very busy got last space in car park . The service was excellent all staff friendly and attentive. Overall our visit was outstanding 10/10 highly recommend thank you everyone.

Good food, poor service. We had our dog so were not allowed in the main restaurant. Options were the bar or outside - it was a sunny day so sat outside. Lots of nice items on the menu. Food was good, particularly the sticky toffee pudding. Main let down was the service who paid no attention to us despite me counting over x6 of them inside hanging around. Had to go in repeatedly for ordering food, more drinks or get the dessert menu and the bill. No pleasantries from any of the staff, "thank you for coming" or "see you again" etc. We ate on a Sunday around 3pm and it wasn't busy.
