Excellent, we sat on the beautiful terrace out the back and what a sun trap that is. I could have spent all afternoon there. The waitresses where brilliant very quick service and very polite. The food is out of this world. I do and don't want to write a review, I want to praise the pub but I don't want others to know about it. Don't change a thing just keep doing what you are doing 💯👍 I need to add to this review, we went to The Black Boy again last night for my daughters birthday as it is her favourite pub. We only wanted bar snacks but unfortunately they had just had a massive party just turn up and couldn't do any more food because of this. We decided to have a quick drink anyway. Then the (I think) landlord came over and said he would do some food for us. This was fantastic and really made my daughters evening and birthday, she is only 6. If you haven’t yet visited this gem of a place, let me tell you, you’re missing out! I've cherished my time here since I was a little girl, and now, at 31, it holds even more meaning for me. Both of my grandparents had their farewell services here, and my partner—who is a man of colour—now works at this fantastic family-run pub and restaurant.

The Black Boy is truly a remarkable spot, serving outstanding food that never disappoints. The staff go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, and they genuinely care about your experience. It’s more than just a pub; it’s a historic establishment that has been a cornerstone of our community for years.

There was an appalling incident in this pub where a young lady was treated with blatant disrespect. Despite her attempts to engage politely with the staff, she was met with dismissive attitudes and condescending remarks.

It was clear that she was singled out, as other customers were treated far more respectfully. This behaviour not only reflected a lack of professionalism but also highlighted deeper issues of racial bias.

Based on the disrespectful treatment of the young lady that happened today, I cannot recommend this pub. The owners' behavior was unprofessional and revealed a concerning lack of respect and inclusivity. It’s disheartening to see such attitudes in a public space.
