Glasshouse cafe — Restaurant in Amber Valley

Been here twice now and heavily disappointed both times. There’s a long wait on drinks (I’m talking 15/20 minutes) and when they arrive they’re not even full. I took the drinks back to be filled up and the staff members were SO rude, the staff members smirked and gossiped between them. Not to mention the wrong milk was poured into the drinks when a dairy alternative was asked for. The flat white arrived as a cappuccino, definitely not barista standard. Finally, upon asking for a loyalty card the staff member said “well, we haven’t got any” in a rude manner. Have been a regular visitor to the cafe over the last 6 months and always need to wait for food, which is not a problem however, today ordered two rosaries and two drinks and advised 30 minute wait for hot food, 90 minutes later it arrived!! The waiting staff were trying but were close to tears and were not being helped by no direction and a very grumpy chef who most certainly did not like food being returned because it was either burnt or incorrect! Something needs to be done as I don’t think many of todays customers will return to either the garden...

We had a lovely Thursday evening at Hudsons which included tea in the cafe. I ordered the evening special (chicken Kiev) and my husband ordered a jacket potato and salad. It was clear that the Kiev was homemade and the rainbow coleslaw was delicious. We finished with a slice of lemon and blueberry cake and a cappuccino.

We think it’s a brilliant idea to open the cafe in the evening on a Thursday. Hudsons is now so popular that it can get incredibly busy. If you want a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere then try the cafe on a Thursday evening. We left...
