We stayed at The Family Tree on Sat 23 March. We arrived a little earlier than check in time and were greeted warmly by Charlie who let us take a seat while we had a glass of wine. Lots of choice available (white/rose/red - another lovely member of staff talked us through all the options) and there was plenty of space in the restaurant inside and outside too. Charlie then showed us to our room when we were ready and we had the ‘Sycamore’ - an exceptionally decorated and spacious room equipped with everything you need for a great stay including a very well sized bathroom with luxury toiletries and bath, mini fridge, complimentary sweet treats, teas & coffee facilities, steamer with iron available and a useful guide of nearby attractions, restaurants and facilities which was great help for a pair like us from up North. Although just off a main road, the place oozes tranquility. It’s noise free and felt wonderfully peaceful. The bed was incredibly comfortable and just what you need after exploring the local countryside. Then on to breakfast - we had the sparkling breakfast at 09:30 on Sunday morning. The restaurant was buzzing with families, dogs and couples alike all enjoying the spring sun. Staff took our order and brought out our teas and juices promptly. We started with their cold breakfast - an assortment of meats, cheeses, yogurts, fruit & pastries which were all divine. If that’s not enough, the breakfast also included a hot dish of which we chose the family tree breakfast and vegetarian sausage & halloumi muffin. Both were huge, cooked to perfection and served with our prosecco. We were genuinely stuffed and couldn’t have been happier with the service. It was also great to see such a welcoming attitude to everyone no matter whether you’re a local or from afar. Staff checked to make sure everything was OK and made sure we were well looked after and checking out of our room was easy as pie. There’s also a huge free car park across the road for customers which was great, there’s plenty of bike space for any keen cyclists and a kids play area. It’s also a 2 minute walk away from Whatstandwell train station with frequent services to Matlock, Matlock Bath & Derby which was really useful. Will be back for sure! Thanks for a great stay.

We found this great little cafe/restaurant by looking ahead on Google and reading previous customer reviews. It was easy to find, although it is on a junction but there is a good sized dedicated car park right across the road with a wide pull-in so that works really well! Parking is free. There is plenty of seating inside and the large garden area has lots of seating in differing areas allowing everybody some space without overcrowding :) The garden is full of quality planting with a lovely atmosphere and plenty of parasols for the hot weather :) There are toilets inside but also access to clean modern toilets from the garden which is handy. There is also a big climbing frame outside for the children and the play area is fenced. Hubby had beans on toast with two fried eggs as extra. It was hot fresh and delicious - a really good portion! I had Greek yoghurt with granola, sliced banana, mixed seeds and honey. It was a very pretty presentation and I really enjoyed it - although it would have been nice to have granola in the bottom of the dish too - that volume of yoghurt, once you’ve eaten the toppings, still leaves a lot of yoghurt to eat on its own. But it was good quality yoghurt and served well :) We also had a large pot of tea which came with a good jug of milk, perfect! This all came to just over £17 which we felt was good value for money :) Thank you to the lovely staff who were all very friendly and polite, sorry we had to dash at the end! I’ve saved you to my Google maps and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re passing :)

The employed staff are wonderful, however the chap that seems to be the actual owner is in my humble view arrogant and pompous at best. He seems himself too good to even exvept plates if you dare to walk across with them as you order drinks. It seems that's meanial tasks for the young people he employs I would guess at the lowest rates. Its an ex pub that is now a café, a pretentious one, but still a café. The adjacent road is the busy A6 and can itself be problematic, the car park is a case of chance where you park (not too much of an issue for my big banger). The police use this place to erm make money....I mean check the passing vehicles for safety (obviously a sticker or all numberplate is a huge safety issue for Derbyshire Constabulary. Sadly for me, this is a passing point from now on, well until the next owners turn up, as it does seem to have a big turnover in that respect. Better places in Cromford or even Matlock Bath.

Truely a family run business. It seems everyone in the family contributes to this well run Tea Rooms and B&B. I stayed for three nights in the B&B. Booking online was nice and easy. Christine responded to my separately emailed questions promptly and offered a number to call too. Check in was easy; Christine and Samantha made me feel relaxed and gave me some local knowledge to help find walking routes. The room had more than enough space and amenities, with Samantha asking if I needed anything else. Breakfast was a well organised affair with plenty of options, on and off menu. Portions were just right considering how much was available. Charlie and Christine organised lunch bags for me everyday. They were very generous portions and other walkers were asking where I got the bread, how appetising my lunch looked etc, etc. The Family Tree team couldn't have been more helpful. The freshly made cakes, scones and snacks were scrumptious! I think I undid a lot of the good my healthy walking did because of those tempting cakes!! I don't regret it though😁 The Check-Out process was quick and easy. No hassle at all. Overall and fantastic stay and would definitely repeat it and...
