Chatterbox Café — Restaurant in Arun

We went to this lovely cafe at Rose Green for a birthday tea. It was the first time they had done a special afternoon tea and they did a great job. The table was laid beautifully in the outside area and there was a selection of 4 different sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, mini macaroons and fresh fruit presented on cake stands just like in a posh hotel. Two large pots of tea between the 4 of us, matching china and a birthday banner and balloons completed the tea followed by a homemade birthday cake. As we couldn't manage it all, we were given takeaway boxes to take the rest home. At just £15 a head this was excellent value. Visited this little gem this morning, was met with a very warm, friendly welcome from the staff. We were able to sit on the terrace with our small dog. We had coffee, spiced tea, toast and cake. Spiced tea was delicious as was the food, homemade cream cake was amazing. My first visit and I absolutely loved it. The breakfast was delicious and really good value, crispy hash browns and proper baked beans make all the difference for me :-)

Also had a slice of cream cake which was one of the best things I’ve tasted in ages, I didn’t even think I liked cream cake that much, it turns out I had just never had one like this - will be ordering a whole one for my birthday which I have just decided is changing...
