Ocean Blue Fish Bar — Restaurant in Ashfield

Honestly it was absolutely disgusting, thought we’d give this place a go for the first time and definitely will not be back. Complete waste of money and had to bin everything. Ordered a doner kebab on naan bread and a cod & chips.

The fish had the skin on which I’m really not a fan of, I wouldn’t mind if this had been mentioned on the menu beforehand but it wasn’t so had no idea till we got home. I would have cut it off and carried on but it was more skin than fish and wasn’t even worth trying. If this had been the only issue I maybe would have let it go but the rest of the food was awful too.

The chips were cold and covered in either leftover mushy peas or soggy lettuce, honestly seemed like they just gave us some leftover chips they had lying around.

And the doner kebab we paid extra to have on naan bread was even worse. Salad was brown, had to pick that off. Then the naan bread was completely inedible, it must have been lying on the side for days because it was so chewy and stale. Couldn’t even bite it, it wouldn’t cut with a knife it was so chewy. Had to bin the entire thing.

Can honestly say I’ve never had such a bad chippy, if it was one item I could have gave them the benefit of the doubt but for every item to be bad then it’s just a bad chippy. I truly wouldn’t bother if you’re looking at...

Went here for the first time 3 weeks ago and was massively impressed by it. I automatically went for a large cod, chips and peas and it was an epic portion. Very well cooked too, highly recommended!

Returned here yesterday and it was a complete contrast to my original visit 3 weeks ago. Didn’t get any photos this time but the food was absolutely disgusting. Had a medium haddock box meal with curry sauce, the fish was tiny, so small and thin. It was overcooked around the edges being so thin. The batter was soft and chewy (horrible) and it was very greasy and tasteless. The chips again very, very small portion, really scrappy ‘dagger-like’ hard chips, struggled to pick a decent chip out. 1 out of 5 stars this time… consistency is everything to me, so won’t be going back here again, the hunt for the best in the Sutton...

First time we have been tonight. Unfortunately will be the last. Ordered the haddock and when I got home and unwrapped it , it still had the skin on. This ruined my meal as I hate fish with skin on.....only chippy I've been to in the last few years that leaves the skin on. Wife's meal was only ok but chips had a lot of hard eyes in them. Usually go to Jolly Fryer but this place had been recommended by next.door neighbour.....I will stick to Jolly Fryer as it is so much nicer. Thank you for your swift response , however , as stated , it was my first ever time here so how would I know to order it skinless , I've never had to...
