The Royal Oak - Westwood — Restaurant in Ashfield

This was a booking I made, based on the word of mouth from locals. I therefore had high expectations. On entering , the layout was great - bar right , restaurant left. The dining area was inviting and relaxed, service friendly, and efficient. We ordered prawn cocktail, pork belly bites for starters, sea trout special, and lasagne for mains with cornflake tart and sticky toffee pudding for desert. Food was outstanding quality, served hot, and we weren't waiting too long between courses. A great experience, we will be back. Thank you once again. I didn't score maximum stars for service for one good reason,.. to avoid staff/ service complacency. We can always do better. Sorry for being harsh...

Absolutely fantastic restaurant/pub, offers bar and restaurant meals, specials board, family run. Events laid on Big outside open/closed areas, swings, great for family or friends to meet. Brilliant atmosphere, chef's wonderful fresh cooked food while you wait HIGHLY RECOMMENDED* my meal was a chicken and mushroom carbonara, made with fresh cream and added rocket with parmesan This was so filling and absolutely delicious. The other meal was a pub grub burger and chips but as you can see this is no ordinary burger and chips (double cooked) and the burger was very thick with all the trimmings bursting out...

If you want a really nice and good meal, feel comfortable eating your food, this place delivers everything. The food served is great, Charlotte who served us was polite, pleasant, greeting us with a smile and communicated well. We asked that she inform the Chef that the meal we had was absolutely perfect, we have been there through word of mouth and have been several times, never having a bad meal or experience, it is advisable to book and well worth the money, not being too expensive.
