This is the forth time I've visited the pub in the last month, being local to the area I enjoy the short trip down the hill for a meal, after being disgusted on all the last four visits I wont be going again. Every time its been disgusting. Today's visit saw the man behind the bar taking my wife's order for chicken only to find at 6.30 pm that there was no chicken or turkey, the beef was all dried up, but its like that all the time, and the gammon was being cut so thin you could see through it. Eventually more gammon arrived but no chicken. I usually have the fish but every time its looked dried up, curling up at the ends as it's spent a long time under the hot light and not fresh at all. A young lad then bought out more hot peas, so hot it burnt his hand as he didn't have a cloth or mits, so hot he threw it, yes threw it, into the part where it should be, luckily no one was stood near to it or they would have been covered in hot water and peas. I am pretty tolerant or I would have given up on the pub three visits ago, but this has sealed my resolve and I wont be going back again. I went to the local chippy and got a fresh fish and chips and it was great. If you read this before you go I can only say DON'T GO, then you wont be disappointed. like I am. I've had to give it one star as it wont send the review otherwise but I wouldn't give it one if...
Read moreSecond time of visiting and was just as disappointing as the first. Parking, Inc disabled was awful as cars seemed to be parking where ever and taking up two spaces or even across the entire disabled bays. Cars even blocked the bottom end to prevent cars going around to the other side of the car park, you could only reverse up which isnt great in the dark with cars coming up behind. On entering not a very good welcoming and our table was just pointed out to find somewhere at the end of the pub. When we eventually found our table (gawping at people's tables to find the numbers was very comfortable) that had our name on, there was other people's belongings on it as well as drinks. If we had been taken to our table by a member of staff, we would have been taken straight to the correct table and the other people's things would have been seen and dealt with instead of us wondering back to the bar and waiting to ask. We had carvery and noticed a long hair stuck to the gravy spoon which made me feel like throwing up, and reluctantly used a different one. At the table the seats are the filthiest I've ever seen in a pub and we're just as disgusting as on our previous visit 4 years prior. This place needs shutting down a huge refurb along with retraining management and staff on...
Read moreWhen we arrived, there was a young lady behind the bar and then two ladies sat in front (to the side) of the bar with a laptop. the lady behind the bar took our name as told us what table were on but didn't show us, just pointed to where it was. luckily we were with my nana as she's blind so wouldn't have understood where she meant - we do not appreciate just being pointed to the direction of the table when there's another 10 or so in that direction. we went to the carvery to find only three meats were on offer, despite advertising four and one of the meats was practically gone as well. we asked for a slight refund as the pork which they'd ran out of and the beef which looked dry because it was the very last bit we're the two meats two out of three of us came for. we were told 'we can't give a refund. im sorry but when you arrived, you can see there's only three meats available' To point out again my grandma is blind so, no, she couldn't see only three meats were available, however I just politely nodded and said 'no worries'. very unprofessional, quite rude in terms of table service & spoken language, and poor food service. this os the first bad experience we have had here and been coming for years but safe to say it will be a long time until we come back, if...
