I attended Rose and Crown for the first time for my birthday. I'd never been before but Google searches suggested it was a good place for gluten free food. The pub itself is nestled away in a small village location. The restaurant was clean and although a little cramped it wasn't a problem at all. The food was incredible, all round delicious and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. The staff however, they were a league above. The service, the friendly nature, the willingness to help and make the evening as enjoyable and special as possible was very refreshing and something that I don't often get to experience anymore at restaurants. I came away thinking what a great place and not just because the food was delicious but because I felt like the staff were actually happy and cared. I don't know the ladies' names who served us but hats off to them! Compliments all round. I will certainly remember this restaurant and pub for future meals. Thank you Rose and Crown! One point to note which is useful for others we spent approximately Β£200 for 5 people but I didn't once think it...

It's an old world feel mixed with clean lines and a very tidy dining area. A good mixture of customers leaves you are that the Rose & Crown is suited to a variety of needs and wants.
The beers are well chosen and career for a good range of palettes while the wine choices are extensive but cleverly made in part to suit the very good menu.
Food is served each day and the quality is excellent and is more than complimented by the service.
The Sunday roast is perfectly balanced so as to leave you almost too full for pudding but not quite. The tart tatin in particular was near perfect.
A great choice for a family get together or even just an impromptu...

At first I thought we had really struck it lucky as the starters were exquisite - Parma ham and figs. The presentation was as as good as anything I've had on a cruise ship. However the mains were a let down. My wife had lamb which she said was tough but eatable. I had rump steak which was tough but uneatable. In fact the steak knife couldn't cut it but rasped on the white gristle running through the red flesh. The waitress offered me a free sweet as compensation but really there is no excuse. A chef capable of producing such a good starter would have known how bad...
