We've lived in the area for nearly 10 years and in that time have tried this place a few times on the hope it's improved, but sadly it just never quite cuts the mustard I'm afraid to say. The promise of a carvery is always a winner, however the roasties never seem fresh, the yorkshires are tiny pre-packed ones, the stuffing balls are like bullets and the veg is unimaginative and bland. The cuts of meat have always been good and generous however. When we went last time, we popped in with two toddlers as the bouncy castle was up. We were the only ones in there, and while eating they packed the bouncy castle away - sadly as we'd promised our two a jump around after they'd eaten and was one of the reasons we'd stopped! We kindly asked whether they might be able to put it on briefly for the children, and they said it wasn't possible as it would mean more people might stop and they were wanting to close up for the afternoon! Was quite surprised about that, but there you go. The children instead had a play on the tree-house thing in the garden, however that was very old and felt pretty unsafe. Read moreGood day, Both my college and myself where out and about in Layham today, on route home we decided to stop at the brewer's arm,s public house. What a surprise we decided to eat not only of the delicious smell of freshly cooked food but also of the welcome of the land lady and land lord first class. To our surprise, both of us decided on a medium roast carvery I had roast beef cooked to perfection a lovley rosey pink center plus vegetables and my college had pork, turkey and gammon and vegetables it was orsum. To finish of a real old fashion 99 mr softly ice cream plus a chocolate flake took me back to my school day's, in all 2pints, two caverys and two 99ice creams for £40 if you pass it I suggest you turn around and go back and have a feast, many thanks to all the staff a real pleasure to eat with you....
Read morePacked on the day and hard to get your table despite pre-booking. Waiting for 45 minutes + after the aĺotted time and then rushed to a rather tasteless dinner 🙄
Mass produced, tasteless veg, tasteless gravy, and meat that was so thin that you could see your dead mamma on the other side!!
Staff were rushed and overtasked, so no personal treatment here. If you were looking for attentiveness whilst spending a bomb then you need to look elsewhere
Front of house staff were as good as they were allowed to be given volume of customers and tight time slots
Management and back of house staff need to revisit this issue as well as the menu. More taste and less haste
Life is expensive as it is and the general feel of the day was that we (group of 6 adults) could have had a better...
