I went for a meal in the Kings Head last night (14th January 2015) whilst our daughter was playing netball at Royal Hospital School. We where welcomed by a lovely open fire , with seating with cushions, tables with flowers on them, a well stocked bar and a formal dining area.
The new owners where very friendly and came over for a lengthy chat with us.
The food is one of the best pub meals I have eaten in a long time and the prices where good.
We had the option to eat in the formal dining area or in the bar area. We opted for the bar area as the fire was so lovely.
We where pleased to see that dogs are allowed in the bar area and you can have a bar meal if you have your dog with you.
The land lord has recommended some lovely walks in Stutton and with Alton Waters behind them its a lovely place to visit over the weekend with our dog.
We will be going...
Read moreIf I could give The King’s Head zero stars, I would. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had – and I don’t say that lightly.||We waited ages for our drinks, which somehow felt like a warm-up for the disaster to come. When the food finally arrived (well past the point of being fashionably late), it was stone cold. Yes, cold. TWICE. We sent it back, only for it to return just as cold as before, as if they’d stored it in the fridge for dramatic effect.||There was absolutely no sense of urgency, no apology worth noting, and worst of all – barely anything was taken off the bill. I’ve had better meals at petrol stations. Actually, I’ve had better service at a self-checkout.||Do yourself a favour: don’t waste your money or your appetite here. There are plenty of other places in Wroxham that won’t serve you reheated...
Read moreAfter a long walk round Alton Water we fancied a sit down and a quick bite. Beautiful seating arrangements in the garden, sadly lots of posters regarding children having to remain seated when with adults, but considering we had no children with us, this wasn't an issue. Just the message was rather clear and present.
Drinks served to garden patrons via a serving hatch which was quite cool. Then table serve for food and further drinks order was swift and so professional for a local pub. It was really nice to experience this.
Food, usual pub grub but portions sizes and price as well as taste was up there and well worth it. Really enjoyed scampi and chips and for the veggie, mozzarella sticks with a side order of garlic bread.
Would definitely visit again and with parking available, it's perfect for after walk refreshments or a family...
