Had a 3 course Sunday lunch and it was amazing from start to finish.
The service was absolutely AMAZING, when I asked for the non alcoholic options I was given a load of options that the lady recalled without having to go and check...Great knowledge ! She was chatty and friendly and nothing was too much trouble, service was quick without being rushed, I wish I had taken the waitress name, she is a credit to the place.
The food was just brilliant, tasted so fresh and you could really tell it was quality ingredients...silly to say but the carrots tasted really carroty and the parsnips so parsnipy !! Haha The roast dinners are a really good portion size and well worth the price. Belly pork was cooked to perfection, succulent meat and crispy crackling. The beef was rare, melted in your mouth and full of flavour.
The dessert was just as brilliant, sticky toffee pudding and the waitress was not thrown when my friend asked for pouring cream as well as ice cream with her dessert...nothing was a problem.
Absolutely brilliant place, only negative thing is its not in my village where I live !! Haha I just need to move...
Read moreVisited last night with 3 friends. One of the 4 starters were already sold out and there were other choices (pate/salad/shell-on prawns and a soup). Wine list very limited too- only one Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc bottle left having been initially advised that it was sold out. Service dreadfully slow although staff seemed friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the service remained painfully slow for the remainder of the evening. My starter of beetroot and squash was tasty however my salad main course of pickled walnuts and blue cheese dressing was literally swimming in balsamic glaze which was disappointing. I do understand that seasonal, local produce really dictates the menu but unless your a vegan or vegetarian I found the main course choices limited (I think 4 maybe 5 options) but not enough meat choices for me personally. This was my first visit but I'm afraid my last as I struggle to sit and be forced to hear foul-mouthed teenagers in the next room: not my idea of a great night given the length of time each course took to arrive at the table. So sorry Freston Boot but this was not a...
Read moreThe food wasn't to bad (hollandaise sauce stone cold) it wasn't the food I was concerned about , we were there first thing for breakfast so no excuse for what I'm about to say . There was a male employee that came out of the kitchen not sure if he was the chief or just works in the kitchen , he wasn't a waiter, as he walked passed the smell of his body odour was unbelievable actually rancid it smelt like he hadn't washed for several days it made me gag, as you can imagine I left the rest of my food . I'm not easily put off things I've done some dirty jobs in my life but to think he may have prepared my food was off putting to say the least . I've been there with my family on quite a number of time's. I can't bring myself to go back there anymore knowing that person my be preparing my food . There's no excuse when it comes to...
