Quite pricy for mediocre food and an almost bland, forgettable atmosphere.
Billed as one of the better quality and certainly pricier restaurants in the area it should offer standout service and food, unfortunately neither were on offer.
We ordered the chicken and prosciutto balottene, smoked pork strips with a side of fries. For dessert the Pina Colada posset and triple ice cream.
A nice selection but everything was just a bit off.
The chicken was overcooked and a little dry requiring a heavy coating of jus to be enjoyable.
The fries had an overused oil taste... either the oil needed refreshing or the fryer wasn't hot enough.
And the posset was more mousse and the shortbread was inedible leaving a rancid aftertaste. (One of the diners is a professional baker and she was far from impressed by this!)
The pork strips were nice but not great, the same with the ice cream.
All of this was raised with the waiting staff who seemed somewhat disinterested.
The decor of the restaurant is ultimately forgettable and almost feels like a cheap knock-off of a chain restaurant.
There's a few nice touches, the white gloves used when delivering food to the table is great (not seen since Silver Service training many moons ago), but its offset by the cheaply laminated drinks menus.
It obviously wants to be a high class restaurant but unfortunately it stumbles in...
Read moreWent for Sunday Lunch to celebrate ours and my parents anniversary’s. On arrival there was a large wedding party taking photos just as you came through the door. ( This made getting to book in very difficult as even when politely asked to let us through they continued taking photos and blocking the entrance area. ( I understand that it is a wedding Venue but maybe a better idea to gather wedding parties away from the restaurant entrance) Once we were seated we waited an awful long time for our drinks , when they arrived the waitress proceeded to miss the water glass and pour all over the table! We had been asked that we sat and they brought drinks to us but would have been better to have purchased from the bar because we ended up having to chase our drinks. Service was slow and sloppy. Our mains arrived minus any of our party having roast potatoes. By the time we had managed to get somebody’s attention and ask for potatoes two of the party had nearly finished their meals. Onto Coffee which took over 30 minutes to arrive. My Tia Maria coffee arrived with 80% of the cream in the saucer and down the glass. I wasn’t even offered another napkin to mop the mess up! Good job I carry tissues! Considering what you pay for a Sunday Lunch the service and care was...
Read moreNot a review of the services provided by Barton Hall but unfortunately feel the need to raise this in the hope it gathers attention.
It has come to a point where Barton Hall may as well not have the Tesla super chargers in their car park at this time of year. The amount of non-electric vehicles which are being allowed to park in the Tesla charger spaces is unbelievable. It’s causing chaos in their car park as multiple electric cars are unable to get on chargers and can’t go anywhere because the rest of the car park is full. It’s essentially no different to someone coming in and parking across the front of a petrol station.
I can understand that some spaces may need to be used as overflow in peak times, but why not do what every other place does and monitor/limit this to 20 minutes maximum stay only in such spaces for non EV’s?
Any electric car parked at 100% would start to be charged overstay fees for not moving out of the space. So why is it fair that stubborn people are getting away with parking petrol cars in these spaces with no comeuppance, just because they’re too lazy to park further out and walk?
I’d imagine under their agreement with Tesla, they are bound to keep charging stations accessible for...
