King William Iv Brewers Fayre — Restaurant in Bassetlaw

So the last time I visited this place the food and service was okay (I gave it a three star) however this time was completely different. Myself and some friends had booked a 4 man table which was already a struggle as the woman on the phone found it quite hard to book us a table (almost like she wasn't experienced) anyhow upon arrival we was greeted nicely, shown to our table which had a reserved tab on it however the table was fairly sticky anyway we had a swift look at the menus and had made up our mind on starters two of which was prawns the lady who brought us our food had dropped one on the floor right in front of us ( we are all human and understand these things happen) she apologised and told us she would bring a fresh portion of the prawns she then picked the shrimp off the floor and walked away (presumably to get a fresh one) she then came back within literally 15 seconds with a so-called fresh plate of food. We had noticed this fresh plate only had 4 where as the other set had 5. So as my partner took a bite she found some carpet strands on the prawns and then we looked down and the 5th was still on the floor!!! So to cut the story short we had been brought back the food off the floor. Which is an absolute outrage!! The manager soon got wind of this and came over apologised and refunded our prawn. But the most concerning thing was the woman who had done this was still walking front of house serving other customers! None of us shall be returning here...

Apologies to Mark and Rachel but i need to mention our meal on Sunday the 08th May. Usually we get decent vfm but yesterday was quite a letdown. Having booked dinner for 6.30 intending to have the carvery, on arrival my wife was told by the manager that carveries were off as food had run out. This was patently not the case as there was loads of food on display. Bit disappointing but we accepted it and chose off the menu. The chicken rib combo was very good but the sirloin steak meal was very poor. The steak had 2 veins of gristle running through it meaning every mouthful was chewy. The chips were very few and mainly end bits. Ordered a Diane sauce which had negligible taste.too. I know full well I should have sent it back but had been at work all day, was starving and wanted to eat at same time as my wife. I did give the waitress clearing our table a full account and she was really good and offered a refund.on the steak meal however my wife was paying at this point but she did get to deduct 2 pints of beer from the bill. It just wasn't up to usual standards but the refusal to serve us a carvery for no apparent reason was the most disappointing aspect of our visit. Smacked of apathy and poor...

This is an excellent gastro pub situated close to Langold nr. Worksop and Tickhill nr. Doncaster. It has an upmarket look and feel with tasteful decor and uniformed staff who all behave in a friendly yet professional manner. The exterior boasts outdoor seating and a children's play area all illuminated after dark, there is ample free parking on site including disabled spaces with the whole area illuminated after dark. The green spaces are all maintained to a very high standard. This is a venue that would suit any occasion from business to pleasure, special occasions like birthday celebrations and wedding receptions. Our visit was for a birthday the staff even carried out the birthday cake to our table with lighted candles and actually sang 'happy birthday to you' a fantastic touch. We ordered a variety of meals which were all of a high standard with generous portions. Desserts were ordered at the table including drinks. The whole experience put many other similar establishments very much in the shade. We will definitely return and would certainly recommend.
