Billsedge Cafe — Restaurant in Birmingham

First off I will say it was extremely busy before I give my review. After we sat down at a table for 4 it's firstly needed wiping which I asked for a cloth to do myself (no big deal as I could see it was busy. ) The interior was ok with a couple of paintings that could be purchased for what must be a local artist. There were rectangle tables and 2 pointless circle tables which once occupied blocked any movement around the exit so I would remove those asap. Now to the service. With no menus on the tables you had to look at the walls for available food which is ok for some but not for others. The gentleman taking the order I think was hard of hearing as people were talking to him and he just ignored them, so with that I wrote down our order as there were multiple choices on the breakfast menu. So our meal was ordered correctly but unfortunately didn't arrive the way we expected. The young blonde girl whose name I didn't get was extremely efficient. Now onto the food, I couldn't fault anything on my large breakfast so it's a shame some of us that don't like beans and ordered tomatoes didn't get the latter. I'm actually baffled, looked after my diet all week and instead of porridge and fruit I thought I deserved a treat. Went in asked for a bacon and egg sandwich with a coffee, woman was polite by the way. The guy in the back cooking the food clearly couldn't be arsed. My bacon was literally undercooked, pale, anaemic the thing needed a sick note. How was my egg not runny and snotty on top???? Took two bites and left. I'm not going to complain as I wouldn't trust them to get it right a second time....

There are some things in the British Psyche that cannot be replaced. One of those is the Great British breakfast. Billsedge Cafe delivers this to perfection. Food is hot freshly cooked and tasty. The atmosphere is just how you would expect it to be. Radio blaring, chatter across the tables and a break from the monotany of the day. Prices are great for the food that you get, you probably couldnt make it at home for the same price. So all in all 30 minutes of heaven!
