I am so glad Hawgrips finally has a cafe! I've been two times now, and both times, I couldn't rate the staff higher. They were lovely, and made me and my dog very welcome. The coffee was delicious (they kindly served it not so hot on my request). The tuna melt and veg toasties were really good. Actually, I fancy one now 😋 For the cherry on top.. the cakes.. I had the apple crumple tray bake. It was amazing!!! Moist, and very appley. Also, the blueberry bakewell was seriously yummy.
Practical side: Slight ramp into cafe, some chairs had cushions, wide enough to manoeuvre a wheelchair or pram. The cafe is right in the middle of the plants, so you get to be tempted while you eat.
For me, the only suggestions I have are: more chairs with cushions (I've a bad back, but I would imagine most would like a cushion option). A few more savoury choices. E.g. brie, bacon and cranberry toastie. Maybe a gluten free option, and not choc brownie, which everywhere seems to do. Maybe a GF coffee and...
Read moreHaving ordered soup of the day,we seemed to wait quite a while for it,when we recieved it it was only just warm,i took it back and i got no apology,the girl put it in a plastic container and put it in the microwave,having waited a while again,we recieved it,it was luke warm again,i called the lady over and she took it from from me and still no apology,there was a patronising shrug of shoulders with the lady and one of the girls,then after what seemed like an age,it was returned to us and the the girl says..its very very hot, it was said in a patronising way,the soup was lovely,we now had a cold crusty roll.Wont be going to that place...
Read moreSuch a shame NO LONGER Table service which makes it impossible to visit on my own with my dog & carry a tray back to the table??? What’s happened the girls were alway such a delight & so obliging apparently they are no longer allowed to serve customers??? I do wish I could see the logic when there was not a queue when I visited today. Such a shame. Maybe a few secure rings on the outside in order to secure my dog whilst I wrestle with the hot drink...
