6 adults and 3 children went here for a meal yesterday afternoon. Was beyond bad!
We started at 2 small tables and moved to a bigger table which split us from 4 other family members as they stayed in the dog area and unfortunately tables in there couldn’t accommodate us with enough room to eat. This however was not a problem.
1 plate of nachos came out they looked unappetising gave them a go but couldn’t eat them. Waited 45 mins for the rest of the meals, the excuse from the bar staff was that they assumed they were starters and were waiting for us to finish? This didn’t make sense as we’d ordered 2 and the second set came with the other meals MUCH later. The people who’d sat at our previous table had their meals come out long before our and despite turning up 20 minutes after we’d moved.
When all the food eventually came 1hr later after being told it being plated I’m just waiting on the bell, to then hear the bell 3 times and meals going out the kids sausage and mash left us with 2 hungry kids the little one was able to pick at theirs. Sausages were rubbery, the mash was so hard and moved as one piece with crispy bits in it and the corn cold and full of water. I ordered beef from the winter menu, gravy had a skin film, the mash the same as the kids couldn’t eat it or get the gravy to thin it to make it edible, beef was over cooked and tough and broccoli full of water and spoilt.
Waitress cleared the table and asked how it was, we said it was very late and unenjoyable, received a delayed response of “sorry the chefs gone home” the £200 we spent as a family here was not worth it. Shame as the pub is a 2 min walk from my house. Never eaten here before as other locals say foods not good but ok for a drink. Decided to give it a go as it was convenient for family visiting from up north and we could walk with worry of driving. First and last time! Either drop their prices, up their game or...
Read moreI'm genuinely so impressed and thankful for the service and care we received tonight. We booked in as a family of 5, 3 adults and 2 children, for mother's day. On arrival we were greeted a lovely lady who introduced herself as shanice, and proceeded to offer the mum's in the group a glass of prosecco, and gave us a little card too, to wish us a happy mother's day. This, we found was really thoughtful and generous, then when we were seated, she asked if my children wanted any colouring sheets and crayons, my son told her he liked batman. She gave him ordinary colouring sheets, but then came back 5 minutes later with a special batman one and a Spiderman one because she'd seen he was wearing a Spiderman top. Again very thoughtful. There wasn't many people in as we went later on in the evening, and I have to say, every single member of staff made an effort to strike up conversation and take an interest, and it was just so lovely. When it came to ordering food, the guy behind the bar was really friendly, and they were very good at helping me make sure my son's food was sorted as he has allergies. Nothing seemed too much trouble, even though they had been on shift all day, and I imagine it had been quite busy, they still had smiles on their faces and kept checking to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely beautiful, we all had different things and everybody enjoyed their meals. The kids had desert after, which looked really good too. Overall it was a really lovely experience for a mother's day meal out, we were made to feel really special, and the kids were thrilled to bits too. Thank you so much to Jody, Ollie, shanice and leon, who were our servers today. We would definitely recommend this place for a visit, and will definitely be coming back again for our next...
Read moreAfter booking a table for 4 people online for half 1, we went down and was greeted straight away. We wasn’t made aware of any food waits on arrival and the place was pretty empty. After ordering drinks, we then ordered our food and was told there was a half an hour wait on food which we were fine with. 45 minutes passed and we still hadn’t had our food. We asked our waiter (who wasn’t very friendly) and she said there’s still 2 tickets in front of us. We waited another 15 minutes and it finally came out. (Nothing to fault with the food just standard- nothing special) After over an hour of waiting and finishing our food we asked the manager if we could have our drinks included seen as we’ve waited so long and she was very rude saying she can’t because she’s done it for loads of others today because the “freezers have broken and a new chef” (not our problem- they should have closed the restaurant) and she wasn’t willing to because “she will get sacked due to the amount of refunds they have done today” (again not our problem). Eventually she agreed and refunded 3/4 drinks. But she was very argumentative and I would never have expected a “manager” so speak to a customer like that (working in the food industry myself I understand) but there’s no way a customer should wait that long with NO WARNING. We would have never stayed if we was made aware at the start- not after ordering.
Had a really bad experience before where we was given gone off meat that had been left on the side for hours (waiter told us this and said it should have never have been given out- after we’d already tried to eat it) and we said we’d never come back again. We gave it another go and it’s safe to say stay very clear of the place.
Only friendly staff member was the young lad who had just walked into it all...
