We had a lovely meal here tonight at the Sagar. It was our first time following a recommendation the family. The restaurant reception area was lovely, clean and spacious where we had drinks and time to look through the menu and order. The dining area was just past the reception and was a lovely space to eat. The food arrived and we were generally all happy with the curries we had ordered, nice favours, nice chilli heat but the chicken tikka on one dish was dry, although very tastey. The saag rashum rice was delicious - worth a try if fancy a change from regular pilau. Chips were proper chunky chips aswell which is nice to see. The chapati and nanns were ok.

We've been going here for years and it's the benchmark we judge others by! Every meal is consistently excellent, original and totally different. Chef Omar makes the tastiest curries we've aver had, and we're hard to please. Last time we went we had Goa Fish, and King Prawn Tikka Haandi Special. The rice is gorgeous and the naan are to die for. Can't recommend this place enough. Staff are all wonderful too, and so helpful if you need a suggestion.

An excellent choice for Indian cuisine and very good value. Visited Sagar on a Sunday evening and opted for the Sunday Buffet and it was excellent value at £12 per person. There was a choice of starters and mains and they all tasted really good, especially the lamb. Cobra lager and IPA on tap. Nice interior and attentive staff, really can't go wrong.

The mains were delicious - beautiful fresh corriander stems running throughout the curry, I had a madras which was so strong and flavourful. The naan bread was also lovely.

However the starters were nothing special. They have been overcomplicated (putting chicken in fancy batter and sauces) but the flavour isnt really there. It would be miles better to focus on some strong tikka flavours rather than presentation as it was a little bland.

Same goes for the chutney tray - small portions of about 5 different things but a little overcomplicated. Only suitable for about 3 poppadoms before you run out.

Overall I would visit again just for the...

DO NOT PLACE TAKEAWAY ORDER FROM SAGAR! Placed an order on their official website, as directed by their Google page. My money was taken, and an estimated order time given. After traveling to the restaurant, they notified me that they no longer use their own website - despite accepting my order. I was asked to wait 3-5 working days for a refund and pay again at sagars to receive the order I had already shelled out for. No indication of a mistake on their end, just an implicit expectation from them to pay another 47 pound. Horrible experience, and a terrible way to...
