Have stayed here a few times over past years to our entire satisfaction. As a family, we were attending a nearby event and I booked 3 standard double rooms for a total of six adults - one night. Check in process simple and fine. We were all allocated rooms in the 'annexe' - a fairly recent modern standalone building that only contains bedrooms. The general room standard is excellent, and rooms are spacious and well decorated in a modern style. I have to add that breakfast was truly excellent and can not be faulted in any way, and the dining room staff accommodated all six of us on a single big round table - which was thoughtful. Unfortunately - we experienced a few negatives...... The shwer in room 14 did not work. The handwheel of the main valve simply spun round on the splines and refused to function. we had to use the bath instead. I can not believe whoever either last used the room didn't report it, or a member of cleaning staff who would have had to use it to clean it effectively did not report it.... I'm going to guess they did, but no action taken. To my mind, a room for double occupancy should have TWO bath towels, and TWO hand towels. Ours only had one set. This was not discovered until I went looking for where I assumed the second set would be - in the wardrobe, but they were not. Not that I ever use them, but I also noticed only one bath-robe... Another member of our party also mentioned the same towel situation in room 16. While checking out, I thought it best to mention that there was a shower and towel issue. She kindly offered to knock £20 off the overall (combined) invoice for THREE rooms for ONE night..... which then threw up another issue. I was confronted with a bill for a total of £870 !!!!! I'd booked via Booking.Com and the price (after the deduction of £20) should have been £290. I asked her if she might like to check her figures. I can't believe anyone in her (clearly management) position would not immediately have a 'sense-check' moment on seeing £870. I'd to get my phone and open my Booking.com app - to show her the booking contract / agreement. Only at this point did she go away and tap on her computer. She came back saying ' Oh - it's a computer error..' ! At this point I did make (perhaps rather sarcastic) comment, after the business with the shower and towels that "This isn't going very well is it"? The rather sharp-toned reply "Well I've knocked you £20 off for the towels and shower haven't I, and it wasn't my mistake on the bill, it was the computer' - frankly wasn't the level of professionalism I'd have expected any of my staff to display to a customer who had experienced...

Read moreI am a regular & have been coming to The Craven Heifer since October 2020 for business related stays every other week. I've only known this place during this covid pandemic but not for a moment, I felt at risk. The covid measures in place make you feel reassured that you are in a safe place. They have high levels of cleaningness throughout the property, from the bar/restaurant areas to the gardens, corridors & rooms. Very friendly staff. The lodge rooms are spacious, clean, good furnishings, comfortable mattress, good quality dressed bed linens & towels. The rooms are provided with tea/coffee facilities & the toilets with all the toiletries needed. Good size TV & plenty of channels to choose from. Good Internet connection. The rooms are cleaned to a high standard, well ventilated with opening windows, good heating if needed, enough windows for a bright room & lovely views from the beautiful countryside surrounding it. The restaurant seating plan is generous & can accommodate all size parties. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, good sized portions & fairly priced with good variety. The bar seating plan is very cosy, with fireplaces & again, can accommodate all size parties. Spacious & clean toilet facilities. The breakfast is also delicious, with plenty of options & well presented. Great start to the day. I have only one small criticism which is the pillows...for my personal preference they are too soft. But this might be my personal preference not enough for me to discount any points. Fabulous stay & highly...
