The Ferry Coffee Shop — Restaurant in Borough of Spelthorne

Visited this coffee shop today and was utterly disappointed. Have been here several times before and previous visits have been OK but todays experience has left me not wishing to return. We had 2 toasted sandwiches, a hot chocolate and a cappuccino which I'd asked to be extra hot. The drinks arrived first and they were lukewarm. When the food arrived, I asked the waitress if we could have the drinks hotter and she apologised and said she would bring fresh ones.......... These were also just warm! the toasted sandwiches looked very anaemic and the cheese in my ham and cheese toasties was barely melted. The bacon in the bacon brie and cranberry toastie was salty as hell and there was a dollop of bitter cranberry sauce at the bottom. For the prices they are charging I would have expected maybe a few chips or crisps on the plate rather than a bit of uninviting brown edged salad. I don't normally complain but felt that They really need to up their game. I was shocked to see so many empty seats but now I know why. The table next to us also had poorly presented food which they sent...

I may well be the last person to the party, but I’ve just discovered The Ferry Coffee Shop!

Wow, wow and wow!!

First, hats off to the fantastic staff, brilliant every last one!!

Second, what a fantastic location. Never knew it was there, but that’s my bad…I promise it won’t happen again!!

Third, the food. A great array to chose from, with something for everyone. I’ve decided that the cakes don’t contain calories if you eat them on the premises whilst covered under a blanket! 😂😂 Seriously though, what an array to choose from. My sponge cake was divine. Leave your diets firmly at the door!!

Fourth, it’s so great to find a dog friendly establishment! Although I don’t have one myself, I am definitely pro this as it’s somewhere I can bring my friends with their pooches (obviously they have to be well behaved - the owners that is 🤣).

Fifth, decent parking facilities for those of us driving from outside the area - thank you!

We came for Sunday breakfast today, queued up to order food and missed the breakfast menu by 10 mins. Unfortunately they were Inflexible and did not allow up to order avocado on toast, scrambled eggs etc as their breakfast menu finishes as 11, and you can only order lunch menu from 11. For me this is an issue as we wanted to have Sunday breakfast / brunch and not lunch which is a totally different menu. I just wish they were more flexible and offered to check with the kitchen if they can do an avocado on toast rather than a “computer says no” approach. So kids ordered jacket with cheese for their breakfast as they were starving (which they report it very dry) and I am going hungry. A bit more focus on customer service would not go a miss here. Shame, as this is a lovely looking place and I just wished they were more flexible...
