Dover Castle Inn — Restaurant in Borough of Swale

Booked a table for Sunday dinner and the whole experience from start to finish was appalling. Each ordered a roast dinner (2 Turkey and 1 lamb), the meat servings were very generous but the roast potatoes and parsnips were cremated and everything on the plate cold. The vegetables were served separately and they were hot. Food was placed on the table and they just walked away, no ask if we needed anything ie condiments etc. They only cleared the table after we had waited so long we started clearing it ourselves. I had to go to the bar to get condiments and more drinks because at no point was we asked if everything was OK and if we would like more drinks. The dessert menu was left on the table and again had to go to the bar to ask someone to take the order. Desserts came out and the portions were tiny for the price and one dessert didn't have the ice cream as stated on the menu. Again no one to the table to clear away so we left the table and went to the bar to settle the bill. We were asked if everything was OK and when we informed them of the poor service and state of the food we were told the details would be passed on and that was it. Wouldn't visit again which is a shame because with the atmosphere in the place this could have been a nice meal. £70 wasted on awful food and...

What a beautiful place this is , it's decorated so homely every where you looked there was something to see. We visited for a birthday celebration .and there was at least 20 of us some with small children. They have a great outdoor eating area plenty of parking round the back and disabled parking at the front. The prices were fantastic and the food was outstanding. They have a large selection of food and special menus which have vegetarian options. They made adaptions to some of the food for the some of the guest with allergies..

The staff did such an amazing job when it came to split g the bill they made it easy to do that.

We got to experience it all as it was such a sunny day. Also by the car park at the back there was this beautiful field with horses. Not sure what it's called but such an added bonus to this business as a surrounding area

The children were so happy there which is something great if your eating out with children.

As I am writing this I am still thinking about the food.

Had a delicious steak, cooked to perfection and the chips here are divine!! The peppercorn sauce was also spot on. I actually can't wait to go back and have the exact same meal! So good! I wasn't mad about the mushroom starter, found it to be a little slimey and think the sauce wasn't honouring the mushrooms appropriately. Think there may have been a chicken stock or something that overpowered the mushrooms. Looked great though 👌

The staff were very pleasant & food came out at the right pace. My friend had ham, egg and chips and they'd paired it with an apple chutney which was so unique and worked really well. Loved the bold move there.

The venue itself is so nice, it's a shame nobody was making use of the gorgeous and substantial garden. Plenty of outdoor space, loads of tables. The Dover Castle is the type of place you can go for a nice evening meal or likewise enjoy some casual drinks throughout the day.

I hope to be enjoying plenty more lunches in this spot. Not to be missed if you are...
