We were so disappointed with our latest visit to Ivy’s. Having been many times previously we were astonished by the change in staff attitude and silly rules. We took our two granddaughters to this restaurant for breakfast, one aged 7 and the other 3 years to buy breakfast. We entered the establishment and were not greeted at all well with a surly staff member (Debbie) barely able to be civil. We ordered two adult breakfast, one child’s breakfast and paid £2.40 extra for one slice of bacon and a sausage for the youngest child. For that money we assumed it would come with a plate but apparently not. It is not “company policy” to provide a plate in such circumstances despite the cost of this small amount of food. We let it go with our a plan to use a saucer from our coffees. Unfortunately, after one coffee was produced the machine broke down (but we did have at least a saucer). Again we accepted this as these things happen. However, when the adult breakfasts came, the baked beans (or mostly the sauce) was slapped all over the plate covering all the food. Previously the beans had been served in a ramekin dish which was good. When queried with the waiter, we were told “it was company policy” not to put beans into a ramekin any longer. Because there was more sauce than beans, one of the meals was returned and the beans (or rather sauce) was removed. This was apparently the only option because despite asking for them in a ramekin dish it was refused. However the child breakfast came with the beans in a ramekin! We were told that the coffee machine would be mended soon so we waited. Eventually being told that all they could offer was tea or soft drink. What about going to the shop next door, buying a jar of coffee, boiling a kettle and making at least an instant coffee. That was not forthcoming however but again we put up with it and one of us had nothing. Having been very patient about all the above, we had had enough. I asked to speak to the manager and was met at the table by Jane, catering manager. Well what can I say except that she is a real piece of work. She was rude, obstructive and talked over me in a very humiliating and aggressive way in the middle of the restaurant. Despite trying to make her hear my comments, she was not prepared to listen not even letting me finish a sentence. I asked why the beans had been flooded on the plate and she said “that the kitchen staff kept throwing away the ramekin dishes into the food waste and refused to retrieve them not wanting to put their hands in the mess”. I suggested she train her staff better and she said “she had tried” and that it was company policy not to supply beans in ramekins any longer because the staff were not able to deal with this. She said it had been that way for two years which I did not agree with as we were frequent visitors and this was the first time we had this problem. I just gave up trying to get her to see a customer’s point of view and we left. This is such a shame because the food is good but the staff are appalling. With staff like this facing the restaurant it cannot be good. All it takes is to be pleasant to customers. Needless to say we will not be returning and will take our...

Been here a few times. Met up with friends yesterday for Sunday lunch. At present they bring the roast dinner to you at the table. There was a mountain of food, it was nice and hot, however both myself and my husband were disappointed. The whole meal - we had roast beef, was glue, gloomy. The mash was like wallpaper paste. I thought there was a spoonful of horseradish on the plate but it was tasteless. I later found a cauliflower stem amongst the gravy and the white stuff- I could only presume it should have been cauliflower cheese? The peas had been stood in their water and had the texture of processed peas, lots of fat on my beef, way too much cabbage and carrots. There was so much food wasted on plates aroundthe restaurant as I suspect lots of people wouldn't have put to much on their plates had we been able to self-serve or ask for what we each wanted. This said their 'puddings'are as ever fantastic. Had the dinner been more palatable I would have given the 5 stars. We will certainly go back but I wouldn't have the roast dinner again. Having booked our table and making them aware of one of our party needs to sit at the table in an electric wheelchair, after the meal said friend needed the toilet, to find that the disabled toilet was out of order! Not mentioned to us on arrival , no call oriented prior to arrival about it, which was totally unacceptable. Big...

Beware no customer service at this restaurant. . I actually live very close to this restaurant. I would have preferred not to leave a negative review. But due to the lack of customer service I feel I have little option. On the evening of 28th June 2024 I visited the restaurant with some friends for our evening out. I ordered the Louisiana double chicken burger with chips costing £12.95. It initially looked great but after eating some of it, I realised the burgers were very burnt (black on the underside). The staff never check in on us to see how our food was at any time. I carried on eating the chips & left the burger. I eventually found a member of staff whom I assumed was the manager. She admitted they had not come by to ask how the food was. She took the food to the Chef who apparently apologised but as I had eaten some of the food. Then no replacement or refund or gesture of goodwill would be offered. I did say I will leave a review. The lady said oh well that’s up to you. I had been a regular customer to this restaurant. if you do come to this restaurant then be aware there is no customer service if the is problem. The food here has always been hit & miss sometimes it’s good another time, it’s average but on this occasion it...

This is about the butchery. Bot the cafe. We bought some pre made Beef Wellingtons for an evening meal at home. I'm sorry to say that the meat inside was not a piece of steak as is the norm for this dish but meat chopped into small pieces, and seemed to be put into a pre formed pasty package. It was dry and tasteless, we did not finish any of them. This was unexpected as the meat and pastries from here are usually quite tasty. I would not recommend them, or try this item again. This was Christmas eve, unable to return so placed in the bin! Very disappointed.

What a gem, well stocked farmshop with a wide choice of excellent produce and a great restaurant. The restaurant is light and airy, with plenty of room, you don't feel as if you're on top of each other. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is good, sourced from their own farmshop and is plentiful. The carvery is recommended, it's served on Tuesdays and There's also a good selection of scrumptious cakes and deserts so try to leave room for some. They also serve alcohol which is a bonus. Even at busy times I've not had to wait long for my meal.
