I went there with my daughter last Sunday, to meet my son's girlfriends' parents and family. They had already booked the table for 14.00. Apparently, there are three sittings on a Sunday; 12, 2 and 4 and you have to book. The pub is nice and has a big rear garden. As far as I'm aware, they just do a carvery on a Sunday. This was excellent. The meat was cooked to perfection and the vast choice of veg was freshly cooked as well. You got up and helped yourself. There was a small seating area next to the bar and there was a bigger room that we were in. I think it was for bigger bookings, as we were in there with four other biggish parties. My main reason for leaving this review is because of my daughter. She has dairy and egg allergies, so I always have to make sure that there is something suitable for her to eat. I spoke to Richard a few days earlier to confirm what was available. He kindly took time to take me through everything, so in the end we settled on nuggets and chips. When we got there on Sunday, I spoke to Richard again to confirm everything, but he said he wasn't sure what had been cooked in the deep fat fryers, so that kind of threw a spanner in the works! Anyway a few minutes later, he came back and said he would make my daughter a fresh batch of chips and some home made nuggets in a separate frying pan. This might not seem a big deal, but I appreciate Richard being honest and also going out of his way to make something fresh and not on the menu. This was also one of his busiest days. I didn't get a chance to say thank you before I left, but this was a big deal for me and my daughter, as I have to be very careful about what she eats, which obviously, is self explanatory. So thank you to Richard and all the staff for making it a lovely and worry free meal on...
Read moreWe booked a table as didn't know how busy they would be, as we were on holiday and staying locally. The staff were very friendly and seated us straight away. The bar area was nicely decorated and made you feel like you had entered somewhere warm and cosy with comfy looking sofas near the bar inviting you to take a pew.
We were served our drinks quiet quickly and we ordered Steak and Chips and Gammon, Egg and chips with homemade onion rings. I forego the onion rings as unfortunately they would have been too fatty for me. The food came out relatively quickly due to the fact there weren't too many people in eating that early in the evening. My steak was cooked perfectly. The gammon was also cooked perfectly and wasn't too salty. Sometimes it is too salty to eat. However this one had been prepped really well. My husband also really enjoyed his onion rings after putting vinegar on to help with the fat content of deep fried food. We both went for desserts as we saw they had Sorbet. Not many places do sorbet anymore. One of the sorbets we have never tried before. Blood orange sorbet. All we can say on that matter. Is if you get a chance then please order the Blood Orange Sorbet. You will not be disappointed. It was a revelation. Not too sweet or tart. A happy medium packed full of flavour. If you like lemon sorbet then I'm afraid you would be sadly disappointed as it didn't have a strong flavour of lemon and was a bit nondescript.
We both enjoyed our meals all credit to the chef. So if you do manage to get to The Bricklayers Arms Pub. Then please sit down and have a bite to eat. You won't regret it. They also have a reasonable sized carpark around the side and back of the pub.
Thank you for your hospitality. We wish you a Prosperous New Year...
Read moreGreat food, waitress are lovely and polite. Always had excellent service in there until tonight. I am a local which took me and my wife with 2 teenagers and a 1 half year old. Pub says family friendly if they don't want a Littleone running around then they need to put family's in another room. Wasn't waitress was a guy in flowery shirt. Now as explained he asked for her to sit down so she not running around whilst everyone else is eating. There was two family us and a elderly couple. If it was packed I would of understood it wasn't. Since I have lived here that is my go to place for food but after that I think I will give it a miss for a while. If the bloke could understand you try and keep a Littleone entertained especially when there park area is shut off. Thank you so much to waitress for making it such a comfortable visit but shame it was ruined don't like littleones change the pub to not family friendly, or make family's sit in another room then you won't have a issue. Sorry but when I pay 100 quid for family of 5 we should be able to enjoy our time there aswell.
Just update: the review my child was not running around alone my 15 year old was with her making sure she was not doing anything that would cause issues or damage. I am also taking this to bateman's direct aswell. I did not want a confrontation with landlord or manager so I just left instantly. No wonder it's empty with no...
