Mother Hubbards, a renowned fish and chip shop, has earned its reputation for serving high-quality fish and chips that surpass the offerings of most fisheries. However, during my recent visit, I couldn't help but notice a noticeable reduction in the size of the fish portion, which left me feeling slightly disappointed.

Let's start with the positives - the quality of the fish and chips. Mother Hubbards continues to excel in this aspect. The fish fillets were cooked to perfection, boasting a golden-brown, crispy batter that encased moist and flavorful fish. The chips were equally delicious, with a satisfyingly crispy exterior and a fluffy interior. The quality of the ingredients and the overall taste were undoubtedly superior compared to many other fish and chip establishments.

However, it is unfortunate that Mother Hubbards seems to have downsized their fish portions. In the past, the fish fillets provided were more substantial, making for a truly satisfying meal. During my recent visit, I couldn't help but notice a significant reduction in size, which left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. While the taste and quality remained commendable, the diminished portion size diminished the overall experience.

Having recently celebrated my 60th birthday I took advantage of the pensioner meal deal offer:- 3 courses for £14.50.

Went along with my hubby.

We could choose any starter, and most of the main courses, followed by a dessert.

This also included a drink each and side dish e.g. mushy peas or curry sauce.

Fantastic value.

I chose breaded chicken wings as a starter and hubby chose the scampi.

Both arrived piping hot with a garlic dip for me and tartare sauce for hubby.

I then had fish and chips with curry sauce and hubby had a spicy fish butty with chips and mushy peas. Unfortunately the chips, curry sauce and mushy peas were lukewarm.

The lady serving, Donna, was lovely, really friendly and offered to replace the chips but I said it didn't matter and just left them.

She was chatty and enjoyed singing along to her 80's playlist. I also joined in and she even took requests!

Would return just to see Donna but would ask her to check that the food was hotter next time as it was such a shame when everything else was nice.

Ordered via Uber from Mother Hubbard's in Baildon yesterday, I should have received my delivery by 19:15 however received order at 19:45 as the Uber driver apologised and explained the lady at the counter kept serving customers and was becoming hostile to delivery collection drivers making them wait over 20 mins.

Called Mother Hubbard's and the woman that answered was speaking over me, I tried to ask why my food was late however she kept blaming the Uber drivers. Then when I explained that I can track the Uber delivery on my app showing the driver was at Mother Hubbard's well over 20 mins then she started becoming very loud and aggressive. I said “Can you please let me finish what I am saying” however in the end she just hung up. I tried to call back however no answer.

Disgusted by the lack of customer service, I actually feel sorry for delivery drivers collecting if they have to deal with this horrible person. Why accept orders for delivery if it's an inconvenience for Mother Hubbard's?
