WORD TO THE WISE - DO NOT GO HERE!

Please read the below and go elsewhere as there are MANY more country pubs around the Menston, Otley & Ilkley area that you won’t feel INTIMIDATED or HARASSED in.

The Chevin Inn what a place and NOT for the right reasons. Best part is the resistant data protection officer / landlord breaks GDPR guidelines as he OPENLY VIDEOS myself and family leaving the pub car park why you may ask….Because I (the customer) asked for our uncooked meat to be cooked through properly (big ask I know)

This pub is IN NO WAY COVID secure as when the meals were returned they were served to us on the same dirty plates with the same food which was now cold and included the part eaten sausages now almost burnt.

The response to us not being happy with the above was from the landlord himself and I quote - “There is nothing more we can do, best if you leave.”

Anyone would / should agree this is in no way an acceptable way to conduct business.

The biggest shame for me is that you can’t give NO stars on here because one star is too much for...

Reluctant to leave such a negative review due to the hardship places like this have suffered over the last year however, there are so many other places putting in so much effort to provide good quality service. My experience at the Chevin inn was very poor. To begin, my drink came in a dirty glass so I had to send it back. Our starter arrived after the main course. Steak ordered rare and received well done. French fries with burger was like something of a children’s menu. The quality of the food products/ingredients is very poor, expect brewers fare quality charged at city centre steakhouse premium prices. I think the staff probably do the best with what they have to work with. Unfortunately I think the issue here is probably higher up. I would recommend maybe some cushions for the cold metal patio furniture, try to make it more comfortable for your customers. I won’t personally be returning after my experience. Poor service. I was told the "pie of the day" was chicken and bacon, yet I was to receive steak and mushroom... It was a brilliant pie regardless but I really would have preferred what was offered to me, hence ordering it, compliments to the chef. We were waiting 25+ minutes for some one to come clear half our table, then an other 5 to even get a dessert menu with the table still not cleared. Which is unacceptable when you can clearly see them having a good old chat in the corridor. Then a full table of people came and sat behind us to be served 5 minutes later and yet we were still waiting with nothing but a waitress turning her back on us with an attitude and absolutely zero diligence. I would have expected a higher quality service for the price of the meal overall. This unfortunately stopped us from ordering the desserts as we were worried of how long it would have actually taken to come. A real shame as me and my partner were the ones who recommended this place for my fathers birthday as it was great...
