CHRISTMAS LUNCH EXPERIENCE NOT WHAT IT WAS
My wife and I ate Christmas lunch here 2 days ago, for the third time in 3 years (previous two occasions were excellent). The starter was excellent, as expected. There was a very long delay for the main course (turkey) which wasn't as good as a Toby Carvery, and about £30 more expensive. The dessert was also excellent.
We suspected that they had overbooked the event sittings because before we had even received our desserts we were asked if we'd like a doggy bag to take our cheese and biscuits home in. We thought that was very inappropriate when we didn't know if we were going to be full from our next course! We OK'd the doggy bags and they arrived soon afterwards, but before our desserts!
Finally, very soon after finishing our desserts we were asked if we'd like anything else to drink and if so could we please drink it in the bar area. We declined and were promptly presented with the drinks bill, without having asked for it. It became clear at that point we were being hassled to make our table available for the next sitting. We were really upset by this, as the restaurant had caused the delay in our main course so were running late through no fault of our own. We paid and left with a bad taste in our mouths, particularly at the price we'd paid. I'm sad to say for what we spent and the service we won't be eating here for a long...
Read moreWe came here as a family on a beautiful sunny day and we were not disappointed! The view was absolutely amazing from this pub and the food and drinks were equally as nice! Great place to come for a family meal and a bonus if you get to sit outside for a drink on a sunny day. For starters we shared the scotch egg, halloumi fries and chorizo sausage bites, they were all delicious washed down with my cocktail sat in the beer garden. For mains we both ordered the pan roasted lamb which was absolutely delicious and being a big lamb lover, I would find it hard to return and not order this again!! Our son ordered chicken nuggets and chips, surprise surprise, which he enjoyed. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding which is ALWAYS a winner in my eyes! My son ordered the trio of ice cream which was quickly devoured and my partner had the double chocolate brownie which he also swiftly polished off. The staff were friendly and the cocktails were good. I also much preferred our visit here to the Cow and Calf pub in Ilkley which is also a Vintage Inns pub with a very similar menu ( see my other post for that review on that ). We will definitely be returning at some point.

Read moreLovely place, warm & comfortable place to have a laugh & a few drinks as well as gorgeous food. The atmosphere is so comfortable & inviting that time flies by before you know it. I & my family had a fantastic visit & will definitely be going back, food & drink is some of the best there is & the Rib Eye of which i had was to die for... just take care on the drive to the place, it was very cold with a slight Fog & the roads had a bit of ice on them & it was Pitch Black on those unlit back country roads with drivers oncoming with their Full Beam Headlights on! It may be different for locals if you know the roads but for us visiting it was a bit sketchy so take care if you are visiting.
I would say to the owners to maybe light up the entrance to the car park as when I reached the entrance there was what looked to me one of those bay areas you pull into to let cars pass then a T junction, so I ended up turning left thinking the car park entrance would be another left turn after that junction but as it was very dark it turned out what I thought was a pass bay was actually the entrance but it was so dark I couldn't see it.
Other than that, I loved it & will...
