Had a lovely one night stay at the Pheasant in Gestingthorpe. Parking was at the rear of the building. Checked in by Reuben, who showed us to our amazing room in the modern annexe. The Captain Oates room was an excellent choice. It was very spacious with high ceilings and very well equipped with a separate sofa area and flat screen TV. The walk in shower and spa bath were a nice touch in the modern bathroom and everything was spotlessly clean. We decided to eat in the restaurant that evening. The pub itself is a really delightful old building with low ceilings and lots of character. We were served up three courses of amazing home cooked food. Again Reuben looked after us and was a credit to the venue, for somebody so young. Breakfast was again first class with what I would guess are locally sourced ingredients. As we have family nearby, we will definitely be returning to try one of the other rooms. And thank you for the advice to go to West Suffolk Hospital. We were in and out in less than two hours with a couple of small fractures...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went there for Sunday lunch with my adult son. He thought it was fantastic and especially enjoyed... actually he especially enjoyed all of it! The menu is not particularly large but I personally see that as a good thing and got the impression that the food is freshly made and not just something heated up. They were very accomodating about my gluten intolerance and for once, I didn't feel like there was nothing I could eat. The prawns in tempura batter (starter) were delicious and we both sort of wished that they wouldn't end. We then had the roast beef, which was nice and rare and came with roast potatoes, carrots, green beans and Yorkshire pudding (not me). And then we both had pudding - (yes I actually got to have a pudding!) a fruit crumble with ice-cream. I came away feeling like I had had enough to eat but not too much. I would definitely go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe recently stayed here for our weekend. I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. The room stayed it had a spa bath and only contained a bath and a shower. We had a Luke warm shower the first night and second day sadly was the same. I noticed a smell when we checked in and found the culprit to be a dirty fridge with spilt milk in the bottom of it which looked like it hadnāt been cleaned for weeks. The sofa cushions were just turned over to hide a stain and to top it off the housekeeping walked into our room without knocking and got a full eye full š³. The breakfast was good although I would have liked more toast but Iām not sure where the service was so I wonāt be staying there again sadly. The bed was comfy and the view spectacular just sadly felt like the service and cleanliness really needs...
