Everywhere i go to eat out i now review fairly and unbiased.

I have been here before a long time ago and it was well known for good food. It now has new people running it.

A group of 7 of us came for a reunion of friends. We were seated in a corner away from anyone else very secluded space.

I thought the menu was a bit limited but we all eventually found something that we wanted. When it came out one had cheese which had been specifically asked to not be added due to beung vegan.

The meals were very small a burger and chips was just that. The chips came in a tin mug and when tipped on the plate very few there. Some coleslaw, onion rings, side salad to fill plate up would have made it look the money. The burger tasted homemade and was good just needed more of it as i didn't feel full after.

My friend had steak and ale pie which was full of mushrooms which wasn't stated on the menu. She hates mushrooms so picked around it to avoid.

Considering the price to what you recieved i would say it was a little expensive.

And after being told off by landlady for having some banter with my friend at the bar as it could offend others i feel like Piers Morgan would say "the worlds gone nuts" its a pubs if you're easily offended don't go to one or work in one.

Overall personally i would go elsewhere next time but i expect some of this is teething issues as newly taken over. So my rating for here is 2¼* lots of potential and big...

I have visited the pub on several occasions & have enjoyed the experience. Sadly, this time I was not so lucky. As it was a nice day we decided to walk the 25 minutes to the pub. Our family had come to visit so there were 10 of us, 5 adults & 5 children. On arriving at the pub I was informed that the maximum size group they catered for was 8 people. I said we were happy to be treated as 2 separate groups of 5 & that we would not expect both sets of meals to be served at the same time. The server said he would check with the kitchen & let us know. He came back a few minutes later & told us that we would not be able to eat there today. This came from not only the kitchen staff but the owners too. I questioned what the problem was, as if 2 parties of 5 now arrived they would serve them, & as we were happy to be treated that way, what was the problem? I was told that there was nothing he could do. I understand that the kitchen may not be able to cater for 10 people simultaneously, but we were happy to be flexible. We ordered a taxi for 3 of us, picked up our 3 cars, went back to the pub to collect the remaining 2 adults & 5 children, then drove to an establishment that could &...

Totally appalled. One star is far too generous. My 14 year old daughter applied for a job there. They pulled her in for an interview (which I may add i wasn’t even told it was an interview, I was just told by Sarah to bring my daughter to see her for a chat whenever we are free, only to have Andy scoff because my daughter brought her mum along to an interview we didn’t know she was having). But none the less they still proceeded to tell her that she was definitely going to come back to have a trial, which they obviously filled my daughters head with false hope, because they knew dam well they had no intentions of inviting her back. Andy & Sarah that is. They avoided all of my calls like the cowards they are. I even spoke to the bar staff and said “even if they have changed their mind, I would appreciate a simple “no sorry we changed our mind” because I have a 14 year old upstairs that is feeling hopeful” did I get that call? Of course I didn’t, that would be far too considerate of them. Absolutely stuck up and unprofessional. I can only imagine how they treat their young staff, if you ask me, my daughter has had a lucky escape....

Arrived for an afternoon drink after walking 45 mins specifically to this pub with our baby and family visiting, got to the bar at 3:31 to be told the bar closed at 3:30 and they wouldn’t serve us a drink even though there were people at the bar still being served drinks and a pub garden full of people eating and drinking. The lady, assuming land lady, told us they shut at 4pm so that’s why the bar shuts at 3:30pm and I mentioned the website says 5pm as we made sure we checked before walking to be told no thats wrong it’s 4pm. I said she might want to change that so people are aware of hours to get a sarcastic ‘will do’ response back as she shut the door on me, not even an apology for the wrong advertisement of hours on their website, Facebook and Google, will be avoiding from now on!

5 star all round . We moved into the area over a year ago and saw a post on Facebook from the Red Lion . So we gave it a go and it was the best decision we made . Service was perfect very friendly and accomadating but no rush . The food was lovely. Fish was fresh and fell apart the chips were crispy and not greasey. The sticky toffeee pudding was ample and the perfect finish . We will be back . Thank you

We phoned up at the last minute to book in a family of 4 as we had been let down by another restaurant, and they were happy to fit us in around 20 mins later. Restaurant full but relaxed. Food was served very prompt, with everything hot, fresh, and tasty. The family favourite was the sticky toffee pudding, which was 👌 amazing. Thank you for a lovely evening
