Tiptree Tea Rooms at The Barns, Cressing Temple — Restaurant in Braintree

Had not been to this tearoom before and was expecting good things with the Tiptree name. However, I came away disappointed. Why? The service was good and the waitress gave us just the right amount of attention. It was the food and drink element of the cream tea that disappointed. The cups were small and we barely got two cups each, so came away still thirsty. The food was mainly good but the cakes were a real disappointment; very small, bland and lacking in much flavour. Our visit here was recommended by a family member, I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint. A good sized clean and well organised seating area with a section that included a stall of drinks, gift items and jams. The selection on the menu is good with something for everyone's taste made on site, prices are reasonable and presentation great. We all went for lunch eating in, which included sandwiches and a cream tea which was amazing with hot scones. Even though the weather was against us this would be a lovely place to walk around and visit the barns....

very friendly and welcoming little tea rooms the parking is free but can be limited if it's a hot sunny day. The staff were polite and friendly the prices are reasonable the food was very good, there was quite a lot of us and they managed to accommodate as well and all the food was delivered at the same time this is quite impressive for a small kitchen.
