My husband and I spent Easter weekend at The Bedingfeld Arms, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed, relaxed, and truly looked after. The entire stay was filled with charm, comfort, and that special something you can’t quite put into words—but you feel it the moment you walk in. The location is serene and picturesque—ideal for a peaceful escape. Our room was cozy, spotlessly clean, and full of character. We loved the little touches that made it feel like a home away from home, thanks to Catkin! The food was absolutely delicious—each meal felt like a celebration, especially our Easter dinner. Huge thanks to Chef Simon for crafting such memorable, flavorful dishes. And then there’s the staff—what an incredible team! Kai, Charlotte, Bianca, Dermot, Stuart, and of course, Chef Simon—you all made our weekend truly special. Friendly, attentive, and full of genuine warmth, you each brought so much heart to our stay. While my husband did miss a bit of that old-fashioned “pub man” feel—dark wood floors and the scent of smoke in the air—he still appreciated the light, modern vibe and the attention to detail throughout. It was refreshing, comfortable, and just what we needed. We’re so grateful for such a lovely weekend and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a relaxing, high-quality countryside getaway with the kindest team around!

Lovely Norfolk gatro pub/hotel rooms above. A great countryside escape. Free parking. Nice garden area with outdoor seating for the summer. The staff were lovely and welcoming. Our 4-poster bed with bath was a great sized room. Big shower and separate bath tub. The bed is the centre piece! No fridge or complimentary drinks, water or toiletries. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and decor. The main courses were £22-31. Our food was ok. Plain vegetables, tasty mash, nice Venison and average Beef Bourguignon… perhaps not worth the high price point however. But they did move our booking later for us, and great customer service throughout the stay. View from the room is over the car park. But trees were also in sight! Unfortunately, the TV was OLD. Bad reception, and it didn’t work very well. No additional toiletries in the bathroom as the soap, shampoo and conditioner is built-in. It’s right opposite a National Trust site, Oxborough Castle. Overall a nice stay.

Amazing food & atmosphere. Great in both the winter indoors with the log fire crackling & in the summer eating in the garden. Return visit July 2022 post Covid..Did a not so swift 5.5mile circular walk and popped into the Bedingfield Arms for some luncheon. As always (even though a brand new team) lovely welcome & friendly staff. Beautiful summers day & as we were the first customers sat outside in the peaceful gardens. We had the burger & Caesar Salad both of which were amazing. I love a Caesar Salad & this had to be one of the best and most substantial I have ever had. Beautifully cooked chicken & bacon and the croutons were melt in the mouth... Would completely recommend if you are in the area or planning to visit Oxburgh Hall which is just over the road.

2 reviews in 1. I went last week and the service was good, guidelines were well kept and food was good apart from bones in the cod, however overall an enjoyable evening and we visited again.

However this time I was shocked at how it was OK for a group to at one point to have upto 8 people either seated or standing at table and there volume of noise was awful. I have left with a headache and could not have a conversation on my own table. The noise from this table lead to other table also sounding like they had to shout to talk leaving it an unpleasant experiance and very off putting.

The food, again the main courses were lovely, yes chicken was a little dry on both plates but flavour was good. The deserts however arrived and they were quite dry and my husbands was actually burnt tasting and crunchy on bottom of the sticky toffee which just ended the whole evening on a bad night ( supposed to be an early birthday meal) I could not raise any concerns as the noise level was too high and with desert leaving a bitter burnt taste I did not want to be hanging around as soon the staff came to collect plates, I had the bill, paid and left very quickly which is a shame as I had planned on more drinks for my birthday. the two evenings were so very different one being a Friday and one a Wednesday.

I have given a fair review as first visit was lovely atmosphere, the food was lovely apart from the bones, and covid measures followed very well enough for me to rebook just days later for an early birthday meal. The second was very different and actually disappointing for several reasons listed from covid measures being broken, the level of noise with no consideration to others, the chicken being dry and the sticky toffee pudding being over...

Sadly I wouldn’t recommend a stay here. I had received a voucher from family to stay for my birthday weekend and had noted this on the phone when making the booking but somehow they still charged me in full in advance without factoring in the voucher. When checking in I was told that the manager was away that weekend and basically no one knew how to issue a refund, but that they could take some money off the dinner bill etc (and luckily we were planning to eat there that night). Staff were friendly but seemed inexperienced and repeatedly came over during our stay with different ideas of how to take off the voucher money from our dinner and breakfast etc, and the voucher would have been more than both, and they seemed very confused as to how to do this on their system. Staff had good intentions but talking about the cost of the stay continually rather spoils a birthday! It really was made into quite an ordeal and they seemed really unsure of the maths, which is not very reassuring.||We stayed in one of the outside rooms (in a sort of annexe), which was very scruffy and loud. You could hear every word and movement from the room next door and people and staff walking past the door. The rooms in the main building look much nicer.||The dinner was disappointing. Our mains were fine but not great and the sticky toffee pudding was inedible and I had to leave most of it for the first time in my life! There weren’t enough waiters and we were left trying to order more drinks for a long time before we could get any attention. We noticed a similar thing for other tables. The restaurant itself and bar area are beautiful and have a nice atmosphere and decor, so hopefully we just...

Went for Lunch on Saturday 26th July having pre booked. It was by no means busy. Ordered our Main course which was fine , then waiter asked if we wanted to look at the menus for sweet. We did. He said he would fetch them for us. After three quarters of an hour I went to the bar, glanced at the menu, and ordered Eton Mess.(The only description offered). When it came it was anything but what we had expected viz strawberries, cream, meringue, It was two chunks of meringue, three dollops of clotted cream, I suppose, some yellow mess scraped on the plate, which looked like lemon curd and bits of meringue and coconut thrown around the plate. I complained and said it wasn't Eton Mess, beyond being a mess, on a plate and asked to see the manager but the waiter, who had forgotten the menus, appeared and said it was their version of Eton Mess.

Two other comments. At no point were we asked if we had any allergies. Also we had booked for a dog free area but there was an unruly dog in the room we were in, paws on table; and which the waiter fondled before laying a table with cutlery, not time to have washed his hands! The staff clearly had no idea that there was a specific dog free area, as when at the bar another couple were querying the same issue and the waitress at the bar had no clue. When talking to the waiter as I paid for the mains he acknowledged that they were understaffed with only three waiting staff on and clearly lack adequate training especially in the knowledge of customer service, the evidence being the surliness of the waitress following our complaint.

A complaint not dealt with adequately and basically we walked out and are unlikely to...
