There's always a risk in trying out a restaurant for the first time, especially one based in a pub and one that is remotely located. But based on some reviews here (and a spree voucher) we decided as a group of four to give The Lodge a go.
The pub and restaurant were quite full, which is not a bad sign, we were seated quickly and drinks were ordered/delivered quickly too. We were next to a large party and although they were quite loud they didn't put us off too much. We loved the surrounding decor, it was very modern and clean.
We had a bit of a wait for the Sunday lunch but that was absolutely fine as we knew it was cooked fresh. When it arrived it was obvious it was indeed fresh. It had a delicious home-made flavour and the portion size was good too. It was one of the nicest lamb roasts I had eaten in a restaurant. We finished with a good old fashioned bread and butter pudding which was amazing.
Now.. all reviews must have at least one gripe!.. it's nit picking but the music played in the restaurant was not right at all. It was like listening to a radio station!
But I am pleased to say The Lodge was quite a success. We would definitely...

Food is great especially the steak which has so much flavour I often do not eat the sauce and find I have finished the steak long before the rest of the plate. On this occasion I had sweet chilli sauce wings, rack of ribs and creme brulee, the rack was big! . Other choices are also great with the only problem being which item to choose from the menu. I really struggle to eat three courses here as the portions are generous and delicious meaning sometimes you just can't leave space for desert. I find it good value and good service, never rushed but with we'll timed visits from serving staff. The parking is easy with a generous well surfaced car park and no big puddles in the rain. There is also a shop here but I have never been in as its closed in the evening. Location is close to the A47 on the quiet 'B1147' road from Dereham to Lying, just a mile or two outside Dereham, Norfolk. I recommend phone ahead and...

Had a fun guy burger which was really messy but so nice, other meal was a chicken G&G burger. Burger was home made and really tasty whilst chicken burger was a chicken breast. Plenty of options to customise your burgers or fries we went for chunky chips. Had a couple of drinks too and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. Would suggest booking if you want to come and dine as the phone seemed to be non stop with people booking for other nights. Didnât look in the shop attached to it so canât comment on it. Wish this pub was local to me back home! If you in the surrounding area recommend giving it a try you wonât be...
