The Old Mill — Restaurant in Broadland

Had a roast here last weekend after deciding to give it another shot following a v disappointing one pre refurb.

What a difference!

I was really really impressed.

The meat was cooked nicely pink and well seasoned, the vegetables were nicely flavoured and not mush that they can sometimes be after sitting on a hot plate for a while, the gravy wasn’t lumpy bisto granules, the roast potatoes were actually roast potatoes.

Also had a nice crumble to finish it off. All in all I was really very pleasantly impressed and would 100% return.

The otter was a pleasant place and staff very friendly. However was let down by the food. It just wasn't quite up to scratch, the steak in a mixed grill was all completely gristle and inedible. The meals generally lacked something. I know it's a budget restaurant, however having used other restaurants part of the same chain and not finding a single fault with their food, this was just disappointing. The other restaurants food even looked better in person than those airbrushed menu photos! Overall it was ok, I'd not rush back, but again I'd not avoid it if...

My brother and I went for lunch on Saturday, it was quiet, it has a nice atmosphere, the bar lady was very friendly and took our order, we both decided to have the”award winning “ beef and ale pie with mash, broccoli and a side of gravy, unfortunately we were both disappointed with the pie, the pastry was good and filled with a tasty gravy, but was sorely lacking with 3 small pieces of beef, the mash had been kept warm on the plate for a while as it had become firm with a crust, the broccoli was nice, it was expensive for basically a pie filled with lots...
