What has happened to this place it used to be so nice clean and respectable. We walked in this morning at 10:30 for some brunch ( bearing in mind it’s a public house ) and there was kids running everywhere tables full off dirty crockery and cutlery and ones that where empty hadn’t been wiped and the noise level of the adults trying to talk over the kids was at mega decibels. After wiping a table down I ordered some food. I ordered a traditional breakfast ( which should just be called the small breakfast ) with coffee. In the past a fresh pot of coffee was situated in the middle of the room to help yourselves, know it is a half broken machine situated by the toilet door in the far corner with a que to get to the only working coffee spout and coffee stains and flies everywhere. When I got back to the table with our drinks we didn’t have to wait long for our food which is a good sign that the chef cooks a bulk batch off and plates it up when your order comes through. However my breakfast even though warm was like rubber and my GF egg hollandaise was so minute it was hidden under the egg. If for the fact there was only 2 bar staff on trying to serve everyone as an old grey haired lady waitress trying to serve and clean at the same time we both would have said something. Standards we feel have gone down over the last few years, if it’s quieter at lunch and evening times without so many kids running around that may not be to bad, however that is still no excuse for the coffee machine flies and food tasting like rubber. There are plenty of other brunch eateries near by I think we will be using from know on, just so that we can eat and talk without shouting to be heard and enjoy what we went out for in the...
Read moreBreakfast was the worst I’ve had from the whiffler today, unfortunately I will not be returning anymore. Table 10 which is a tight squeeze really the table doesn’t fit in the booth, the carpet has a massive hole in it so you can see the concrete floor under. Tables sticky not seen a cloth for some time. Member of staff sitting on a radiator on his phone or just staring at customers eating. Never had “fried eggs” like it they looks as if they had been dropped on the floor splattered and put back on the plate. Hash browns were black and smelt horrible. Was told the bean portion was the size they provide but for a large breakfast I would like a few more than just a table spoonful, massive amount of toast or should I say warm bread? We both had but gut ache after and been to the toilet 4 times since our visit, if you want a belly load of bacteria then do visit the whiffler! People say it’s cheap but come on guys serve some decent edible grub! Suggest looking for an independent cafe it might be a little more expensive but at least they put some effort in right? I spoke to the manager who immediately said you can’t have your money back because you ate too much of it, said it’s not about that I want to give you some feedback, too many of you just accept what rubbish it is. What a dirty...
Read moreNow, im not expecting a fine dining experience when I walk into a JD Wetherspoons, but my experience of The Whiffler is also well below the standard o would expect of even a pub lunch!
Where to begin, we ordered on the app, and half the items we ordered saying they were available, weren't until we got to the basket at the end. So changed my choice from chicken to an all day brunch. Once ordered to notice 1 little sign on the bar that the place had no eggs, so 2 eggs are replaced with 1 sausage!!!
Then we move onto the time..... it took 50 minutes to get my food, pretty appalling and no explanation, no apology, my plate just placed in front of me.
So I was disappointed that I knew that eggs were unavailable, I wasn't aware you didn't have any bacon even! I include a photo showing what can only be described as one lonely, overcooked, what was once bacon rasher on my plate! I dont know what the chef was thinking when he looked at my plate, let's just say, disappointing
I doubt I shall be coming back so this review will probably have no bearing on how you care about my experience but I would give it...
