It’s a lovely location as you would expect and must provide some great views in the summer months. We went up to try the breakfast which is available all day long.

I ordered the large breakfast at £12.75. For an extra pound you can add any hot drink. My brother ordered the small breakfast at £8.75. Again any hot drink could be added for £1.00. We both opted for the cappuccino.

Have to say the breakfast was a bit hit and miss. Some of it was very good, some poor and one item inedible. I like a soft egg, my brother likes his egg yolk hard. The eggs were good, served as we liked and piping hot. So were the beans. But both of these appeared to have been plated up last which explained why they were hot. Unfortunately other items were really only warm. The sausages were good quality and very tasty but we both felt they needed a little more time cooking and they were warm not hot. My black pudding was also really nice but again could have been hotter. Hash browns were excellent. One of the servers did say that they were different from the ones they usually serve due to some delivery issues. The bacon was just average and not hot enough. But the mushrooms were awful. Neither of us could eat them. They didn’t taste right at all. We called one of the servers over and she informed us that the mushrooms were fried up in margarine. She did offer to replace them but if they were going to be cooked like that again there was no point.

When our plates were cleared by a different server he explained that the mushrooms were fried up in a type of Flora which was plant based so they were suitable for vegans. Found that a little strange that on a breakfast with several meat items they were serving up vegan friendly mushrooms. Surely there should be two options available to people. It did really spoil the breakfast for us as the taste was awful.

All in all it’s a nice location, well set out inside and the staff, on the whole, were friendly. But the breakfast was a bit of a disappointment and you can get a better breakfast at a cheaper price in other...

We found ourselves here more by luck than design. We were Googling somewhere to have lunch close to Burnley, and this place appeared. It looked like something different, and linked to the charity so why not I thought. It sounded very popular so we booked in advance. The car park was full when we arrived so drove down to the car park in front of the stables reception and it's a short walk back through the stables. To be honest I wasn't a fan of the dining room, we were seated in the lean to conservatory which was very warm, they had opened the door and windows but this resulted in a cold draft. The two extremes weren't comfortable so we asked to be moved. We finished up a couple of tables down which was only a bit better. Apparently there was no room upstairs or in front of the kitchen. There's a reasonable menu but it didn't quite do it for us however I opted for a veggie burger which was pleasant and the wife had a special which seemed to be a bit of a nod to KFC. The service was very friendly but our meals took nearly an hour to arrive. More frustrating when you notice tables arriving after us but getting theirs before we did. What we had was very good but we thought it would have been a little bit more 'exciting' given that's it is apparently an award winning restaurant. Nice drinks and some tempting desserts including ice creams but we passed on these. There aren't any 'cheap' options on the menu but I didn't mind as I felt I was making a contribution to the charity. The high point for us was to see the horses walking close by the windows, and they seemingly very...

Spacious cafe with lots to choose from. Me and my friend reserved a table and were seated quickly upon arrival. I do think it would be reasonable to have table service and not have to order at the till, especially if you've reserved a table. The staff were nice but we waited 40 minutes for our food and they brought us the wrong dishes at first.

The food was really good and I was happy with the price as well, but the coffee could be much better in terms of quality.

I would also add that the toilets need to be checked and cleaned more often, as they were quite messy. I do think I would come again because overall, it is a nice place.

i would rate...

Visited the HAPPA café twice now, both times partnered with a visit to the Horse rescue. Both times I have nothing but praise, experiencing both a quiet and busy service. Staff are friendly, attentive and always happy to help. The food is tasty, well made and definitely good value for your money. The atmosphere is cozy yet modern, I absolutely love all the bridles, saddles and horse portraits around the place. I did coke back and I would come back again and again and recommend it to anyone else.
