Myself and my partner travelled an hour round trip to come for food as we had seen so many good reviews. We did not make a reservation for the restaurant which is our mistake. When we arrived we spoke to the owner who told us it was a 40 minute wait for a table, we were happy to wait as it had already taken us 30 minutes to get there. Fortunately, the manager of the restaurant managed to squeeze us in within 5 minutes of us being told there would be a wait. I ordered a carbonara which was nice. My partner ordered the pan seared lamb which the waitress then took to the kitchen and came back to tell us there was no Hake, which is a completely different meal, my partner then confirmed that he had ordered lamb and the waitress then said oh sorry the lamb. We then waited 25 minutes for our order. My order was correct however they brought my partner pan seared Hake which he is not what he ordered. The waitress apologised and said that it was her fault and she would take this back and ask the kitchen to make Lamb. She then must’ve spoken to the kitchen and the restaurant manager as he came over and tried to make out that my partner has ordered the Hake, which he then again explained what had happened with the waitress and that he does not like fish and would prefer to have them make the lamb. The manager changed his tune and said it will take too long to make the lamb you can have a pizza instead and brought the menu back over. My partner did not want to have a pizza and felt pressured to have this meal as we were told the kitchen would be closing soon. However, I don’t understand that if we were to have waited the 40 minutes for the table and we had ordered the lamb and carbonara then the kitchen would’ve been open as this whole interaction happened within 40 minutes of us being seated…so he blatantly lied to our faces. I was extremely disappointed with the service and would not recommend coming here for a date night. This experience completely ruined our night and I was extremely annoyed for the rest of the date night. My partner still kindly paid the £50 bill. If I was him I would’ve refused to pay for the poor standard of service. He paid for the pizza he was practically forced to order as he was so hungry he ate it anyway. I am appalled at the blatant lies and trying to spin this issue on the customer. I will not go back to this...
Read moreI can only describe this as the worst place I have ever stayed. From the pictures, you think wow from the interior to the view but when you get there my god what a nightmare. ||||Check-in is at the restaurant and we were stood there 20 minutes before we were noticed we were then shown our room by the rudest woman ever slammed key in our hand and said there is your room. The room was filthy various stains on the curtains and wall the toilet was hanging off and the lake view room was a view of the beer garden which was full of kids running round in dirty nappies and every table full with empty plates and glasses. ||||After finding a staff member to ask to be moved rooms which took 30 minutes and 5 staff before someone decided to help so on too room 2 which was the smallest room ever you could shower watch tv and use the toilet at the same time. ||||We decided to go for food which was ok apart for the wait between courses due to the waiting staff spending time with the locals and ignoring the visiting guests after eating we asked to be moved rooms again and this time we were moved to what they called their honeymoon suite well trust me anybody who has booked that as a honeymoon suite will no longer be married. ||||There were empty biscuits packets behind the drawers cobwebs all over and a million dead flies on the interior of the door when I went to find somebody to help with the flies it turns out there is nobody there on a night, not one staff member which was shocking, to say the least. ||||We were told breakfast was at 7:30 am well after going down at 7:30 then 8 then 8:30 and finding no staff and no chef and all the kitchen in darkness it was evident breakfast was off the menu when I finally found a staff member at 9 who was just the cleaner she informed me the chef was not in till 9:30 well what happened to 7.30. ||||Avoid this...
Read moreWhen my friend booked me to stay for two nights at this place (in two different rooms), I arrived and parked up (good, easy parking available) and felt thoroughly confused. As far as I could tell from the outside, Casa was a restaurant, and a restaurant only. There was no mention outdoors (that I could see, so even if there was, it clearly isn't obvious enough) that there are any rooms here ! But there are. Not more than fifteen, though.
The rooms won't win any awards (as an example, there was not a single hanger in mine on the second night and there was no desk or anything to work at in either room) but they are clean and decent enough, and the complementary toiletries and biscuits are a nice touch. The best thing was the 'breakfast box' which they leave outside your room the night before and you can depart with in the morning. Nice. (And tasty pain au chocolat !) That's good because the place was shut up each morning I left (before 0830), so I guess they don't do breakfast. I posted the room key through the letterbox at the front, although I had received no instruction to do so.
The reason I decided to write this review was to compliment them for the restaurant side of things. It overlooks the river/lake delightfully with much pleasant outdoor seating which must be super in the warmer months. The staff here are absolutely lovely. All the servers (male and female) make direct eye contact and SMILE (which is particularly unusual given the age of some of the younger members of the team); they are attentive and seem to genuinely care. (Orlando's customer service skills are particularly impressive.) And the quality of the food was much better than I was expecting.
All in all, a surprisingly pleasant stay. Well done all...
