We were looking forward to eating here after seeing all the good reviews but we were disappointed. Service was really poor which we thought could be because they were busy but the restaurant emptied soon after we arrived and it didn’t improve. The staff didn’t clear the table for ages and when they did they left all the empty glasses and bottles on an already cramped table. It took 40 minutes to get the main after the starter and we thought they’d forgotten us. £17.95 for supreme chicken which was tasteless and, checking menu afterwards we should have had vegetables with this but they didn’t appear. A lot of money for a small potato cake and a chicken breast. Lots of flies in the restaurant and dead flies all over the windowsill next to us. Not the staff’s fault but a family sat nearby had children’s programmes playing loudly on a tablet throughout the meal disturbing everyone’s evening out. Not great and a lot of money for a...

We found this pub by chance when staying in the area during the August bank holiday weekend, they managed to squeeze us in last minute and so glad they did, we all ate something different and each meal was delicious Not only was the food lush the service was great too, all the staff were super friendly and helpful, quite clearly genuinely enjoy working there, we enjoyed it so much we went again the following evening, again all had something different and again the food was great . Really tastes great and home cooked and cooked well. I believe my dad will be talking about the steak and ale pie for EVER and my mum the chips Unfortunately I only took one photo, this is the beef lasagne, my meal from our first visit 100% recommended, my only regret is we didn’t go back for the Sunday roast, we went somewhere else in the area that had been recommended ! That’s a separate and less...

Revisited thus lovely homely pub , just outside of Hebden Bridge Saw the specials menu advertised on line and had to come when liver and onions are on any menu You just don't see it anymore, we weren't disappointed by Matt and his team, freshly cooked lamb liver in an onion gravy, buttery mash, no lumps, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, sugar snap peas all cooked in butter. Generous portions, my wife had the hot beef baguette, chips and salad, again so good massive portions, food came quickly as the xar park was nearly full we thought we would have to wait, very friendly bar staff, dog friendly in the bar and part of the restaurant. Guest ale was a dark mild, again you don't see that very often, Parachuting Hedgehog 3 8% and only £3 50 a pint. lovely drink. Recommended to book in the restaurant but very cosy in the bar area

We were 3 adults travelling including my 88 year old mother in law . Staying for a catch up with pommie cousins mainly from Bingley and Wilsden who had not been to the pub in over 40 years But all will be back for future meals. Lovely friendly happy chatty bar and kitchen staff always happy to assist. Lovely meals for dinner especially the large Yorkshire pudding with mint stew. Best full English breakfast which included 2 of everything. Cereal juice also included and lots of toast. Would definitely stay again. We had the loft room easily accommodates 3 adults with a massive bathroom with shower which was lovely and warm in the morning with good water pressure. Log fires made you feel warm and cosy. Locals both 2 and 4 legged very friendly.
