The Evenhill is an absolute gem—a charming old-style country pub with a cosy, comfortable annexe behind it offering seventeen lovely older style rooms. We stayed in room four on the ground floor, which was spacious and well-equipped, featuring a large, comfy bed, a big bathroom with a shower over a corner bath, a flat-screen TV, and plenty of space for our belongings. It was spotlessly clean, wonderfully quiet, and warm—perfect for a relaxing getaway. Added bonuses include free WiFi, free parking, and it’s pet-friendly (just let them know in advance if you’re bringing your dog).|We were lucky to book a table at the restaurant for dinner, coinciding with a special Burns Night supper. It was a lively, fun evening with delicious home-cooked food, mostly prepared by the lovely proprietor, Debbie. The three-course meal was outstanding, and the complimentary Baileys and whisky toasts made it even more memorable! Despite being newcomers, we were made to feel just as welcome as the regulars and locals, which was such a nice touch.|Breakfast the next morning was equally impressive. Everything was made to order from the menu, and my poached eggs were perfect. My husband loved his hearty full English breakfast, and the additional buffet with cereals, toast, and fruit added to the experience.|The staff were outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. The overall atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and genuinely lovely.|We couldn’t recommend The Evenhill enough, whether you’re looking for a cosy retreat or a fantastic dining experience. We’d love to stay again if we are ever back...

Read moreHave had meals here before but never the carvery so my youngest suggested a visit. Yesterday was a bit hard as my father pased away this year and yesterday would have been his birthday so we needed a little cheering. What can I say. We were met by friendly staff and shown to our table. The kind waitress who looked after us saw that my mum was having a little difficulty walking so she took her order and arranged to have her plate actually brought to her which was a lovely touch. The carvery was excellent. All the meats were tasty and succulent and the guy actually doing the carvery was friendly and made sure whether I wanted well cooked beef rather than rare. A good selection of vegetables as well meant that my plate was piled high. And it tasted as good as my mums sunday roast (sorry mum). Finished it off with homemade apple crumble with custard. From a value point of view I would certainly say, at least from our perspective, that it was good value at just over £22 per head. If I could I would give it 6 stars, and I would certainly highly ...
