Museum Inn Carlisle — Restaurant in Carlisle

UPDATE JANUARY 2017: not sure what's happened here, but there seems to have been a big staff turnover, and the food's dropped in standard a bit. It's not brilliant, and serves a purpose, but something doesn't currently sit right... staff are pretty good still, but the changeover has resulted in it losing that familiar "Cheers" feel, where the staff know you and know what you want. Reduction in my star rating from 5 to 3, and would be happy to discuss my concerns.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: What's not to like? Decent beer, decent prices, decent food... Great family pub.

Update 3rd October 2016: recently been refurbished top to bottom. Decor really well done, and bar area now fully separated from the main lounge and seating/eating area. Food still does the job, and even though it was really busy, service and time-to-table was excellent. A great update to a good, solid, reliable pub, and you can't really go...

What a shame, my local pub that I have not visited for a while, has gone right down the pan! As I went to the bar I was greeted with "wot are use avin" when I ordered a cappuccino for my daughter the barmaid disappeared the kitchen to make a message then explained the coffee machine wasn't working, we paid the price for a cappachino. The manager was helping himself to a pint and crisps and wasn,t the slightest bit interested. Sunday afternoon and the pub was empty, no atmosphere and poor service we had just come from a drive in the country and paid 80 pounds for a gorgeous meal at Castle Carrock, thank God we didn't chose the museum, it looks like the pub will go to the wall like so many others, shame the brewery don't...

2 of our meals we couldn't eat, they were disgusting, when asked if we could have a refund, the manager said they've never had a complaint before, and they had served the food already so wont refund it even though we didn't eat it. Gave us 3 plates of nachos after charging us for 4 but only told us AFTER we complained it was because they ran put and could swap it for a different starter. Disgusting food, disgusting service, can not rate them low enough, next time we'll just get a takeaway since that would...
