A group of 5, went here for mothers day 2024. We were looking forward to the celebration. However we were very disappointed. I has crispy squid and as you can see there was very little squid to be had, others had the chicken skewers and reported that the chicken had a tough outer skin like it had been pre-cooked. For mains we had the Sunday roast, I was so looking forward to this as it was now 3pm. The only hot thing on the plate was the boiled potatoes. Everthything else was luke warm. The roast (yes 1) potatoes could have been used to know a building down. I has the triple meat and the pork was a 2 cm square. The chickens was nice enough though. Now for the killer, the cauliflower cheese was like water, cold and had no cheese at all. If you can't make it, don't serve it. A server asked how the food was, I said "very poor" but he just walked off. I spoke to Reece the manager before paying the bill and without question he removed 2 of the meals as if this was like a common accurance. Other tables were also waiting to complain about the service. For £32 for 2 courses, take £7 off for an average starter, £25 for what we got served was awful. Will not be revisiting.

5 Stars – A Hidden Gem in Rothley! We had the absolute pleasure of dining at The Blue Bell Inn in Rothley, and what a fantastic experience from start to finish. It’s a lovely, welcoming pub with a charming outdoor garden – perfect for a relaxed drink or al fresco meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. But the real star of the show? The food. Wow! With a new head chef at the helm, the kitchen is absolutely smashing it. We've followed his cooking at a few places before, and we can confidently say that his Sunday dinners are the best around – by a long way. Every element was spot-on: perfectly cooked meat, generous portions, and sides that were far more than just an afterthought. The gravy alone is worth the visit – rich, flavourful, and absolutely moreish. And don’t even think about skipping the cauliflower cheese – it's next level. Creamy, cheesy perfection. Thank you to the whole team for such a fantastic meal. We’ll absolutely be back – and soon!

Menu is inclusive and offers good dishes at a fair price. Venue from a distance is lovely and inviting. Start looking a little closer and you will see cobwebs, dust, dried spills and other marks pertaining to a less than thorough cleaning regime. Staff are a mixed bag. They can be polite, but will actively avoid you by looking at the floor when moving through the restaurant and ignoring/forgetting requests. We waited 30 minutes for 2 drinks and a further 35 minutes for 2 main dishes. No apology was given for the wait, no thanks was given following payment and manners were lacking throughout our whole visit. Contacted the venue and the parent company twice following our visit to highlight these issues and have been ignored.

Used to be a nice place to go but been put off by several things. Firstly your given a menu and literally within 2 minutes a waitress arrives to take your order. The menu has quite a few things to choose from so can take longer to browse through. After sending the waitress away whilst we looked at what we wanted, again 2 mins later the waitress arrived. This has happened every time we visit & we get the impression they are desperate to get your order in. Whilst the staff seem nice enough they could do with some training as they appear they really dont take notice because they are in a bit of a rush especially if the place is busy the summer time. Our drinks order has been wrong several times so we have figured it's easier to go to the bar and order. On our last visit the pizza was no where near as good as previously and it was under cooked and tasted rather pastey for a pizza...It was also dry & cold. I ordered a brisket beef sandwich with dripping & horseradish on brown bread....It came toasted & without horseradish. I was told the chef had forgot to put it on would I like it on the side! When I asked why it was toasted the waitress was not at all confident as to why & replied it's how it comes. The bar lady person in charge ? came over & having a discussion with her it appears my sandwich comes toasted as per chefs instructions but the menu does not state that....so I wasn't given a choice. When they put it on plain bread they had just transfered the beef from the previous sandwich & had no dripping or horseradish! !! Attention to detail lacks for this company. I'm not usually one to write a bad report but having ordered an Amstel lager which was very clearly watered down...(I drink Amstel drought & bottled & this was terrible) to have it changed to another equally watered down drink & after the debacle with the simple sandwich the manager said she would remove our drinks as a good will gesture but she only removed half a lager from the bill....Very disappointing service...The chef on that day did not need to come out and challenge our small complaint regarding what the menu stated & how the sandwhich is served.. It should have been discussed quietly. Staff need to be tidied up and look smarter in my opinion...laid back does not mean look a scruff and have a similar attitude. The look & attitude of the staff is a reflection on the company. The place needs a bit of a shake up. ..I haven't even gone into detail of our previous visits but have made our mind up its 2 customers lost along with all those we had...

Went to the Blue Bell Inn this afternoon to celebrate my fathers 65th birthday and was left disappointed and will not be returning. Was our first time here and was very excited at the prospect of a GF adaptable roast dinner option for myself being coeliac. However, when the food arrived the adaptation was taking off the Yorkshire pudding and so was left with 2 slices of meat, 1/2 a carrot and 2 dry roast potatoes. Think if something is having to be removed from a meal, then it should be substituted with more potatoes/ carrots in future as the price was the same. Took us 30 minutes of being there for someone to come over and take our food order and then when the food arrived, our 1 year olds chicken goujons were burnt and my brothers roast dinner never arrived. Took almost another 30 minutes for the redo of the burnt food to come back out and my brothers food to arrive. When his roast did arrive, it was missing the Yorkshire and we were only given 1 serving of veg and cauliflower cheese between 4 people which was cold by this point. None of the food that came out was overly hot so had to ask for more gravy to make it warmer. Wasn’t asked if we wanted any condiments until we had nearly finished eating and we had all practically finished eating by the time my brothers correct food came. Decided against having another drink or pudding as refuse to give my custom to a business that doesn’t care. When we asked for the bill, 20% had been deducted without us even asking to try and compensate for the poor service and food, but this was a very disappointing visit especially for a birthday treat. Will not be returning and would...

Very poor dining experience.

Negative experience started with the booking. It was for a birthday party and I was told we would have to be out by 7:30 sharp as there is a staff party they are eager to close for. They even went as far as to call me on the day and asked if we could arrive 30 minutes earlier so we could leave earlier. Very unprofessional.

After arriving we ordered drinks and were then told they had run out of chicken. We were told that this would be replaced with extra beef, which it wasn't, despite still being charged the £3 supplement.

The entire food service was so rushed that the dining staff literally spilled gravy on us, they were that eager to get us out the door.

The food itself was really bad. Never been Catfished by a menu before. That may sound dramatic but believe me, what is on the menu is not what you are served. Never before have I seen a chorizo disk sized piece of stuffing and I never want to again. It had to have been the lowest amount they were allowed to serve whilst legally keeping it on the menu.

The rest of the food was the at the same standard, bland pork, cardboard like roast potatoes and sauces missing from the plate. Cauliflower Cheese was really nice though.

All in all the kitchen staff should be embarrassed by what they let out for service. The front of house staff let themselves down by constantly harassing us into leaving as soon as possible. If you take the booking you should maintain the same standard of service.

Needless to say I will never be returning and hope this...
