A great little cosy pub to spend a sunny Sunday watching time fly by. Has a lovely decor and charm about the place, nice to see the horses go by on the road, a good beer garden also, and some really nice real ale & beer on tap 👌 and a perfect pint of Guinness ! Very friendly staff shall definitely be coming back again indeed

Over an hour and a half to get our food. The barman wasn’t at all friendly or apologetic, won’t be coming back.

Finishing our walk around the nearby nature reserve, the pub was a welcome sight! It is beautifully set on the main street leading up to the top of Little Baddow, and proudly features a lovely beer garden on a slope to its Western side. There is a good selection of drinks, warm food and sandwiches. The place has quite a history (built around 1650) and the owners have made sure the interior is richly decorated with lots of items around a nautical theme. The collection of beer mats adorning the ceiling around the bar to the right of the entrance is worth admiring. Note: the pub serves food but you may have to wait to be served so don't be in a hurry! Enjoy the atmosphere and a good conversation. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, a great testimony of local...

The Rodney is a pretty 200 year old pub and is quirky inside. The guide states the Rodney is a pub which sells food, Not a gastro pub. It has a marvelous range of beer and cider. The four of us all had a pleasant 2 course meal, which was excellent value, and we found the staff were good (we even had a friendly chat with the landlord at the end).

I can see why some have made some negative comments, all I can say is spend much more for silver service.

We certainly will return as its not to far from our home and we had a nice meal in a cozy dining room and probably has the best choice of beer and cider in the locality, its worth the trip for...

After a walk at Paper mill lock, we headed up the road to find this pub. It's a lovely looking pub set in a big garden. Inside is even more impressive with beams and low ceilings. We were met by a friendly landlord and lots of locals. It's a cosy little space around the bar, so we jostled in and chose drinks. At least the ales on tap, lots of other beers and ciders. Their speciality seems to be a Vodka list that takes up a full page of A4.

The beers were lovely, plus the selection of crisps and Scratchings kept us all happy. A very pleasant way to spend an hour on Saturday afternoon. We'll definitely...
