Hollingwood Hotel — Restaurant in Chesterfield

Well over the years I have eaten in some beautiful, mediocre and really appalling places. Unfortunately Im not actually sure where the Hollingwood sits on that scale, apparently this is a hidden gem which from the outside it could maybe pass for.

On entering the pub it was like entering a scene from American Werewolf In London, the whole pub stopped and starred with the echos of Brian Glover "Your not local. "

The pub had requested we email our order in advance as there was a few of us which we did a good few days before, this you would think was enough time for the kitchen staff to prepare our food.

Lo and behold the order was not received and had to be taken again. The order took over 50 minutes to be served and was brought out by a lovely waitress but inexperienced one plate at a time with at least a 5 minute gap between service.

Eventually all the food was served after several mistakes of food not been what was ordered. Unfortunately the food was greasy, onion rings definitely not large, steak not medium rare and a naan bread that left the customer requiring dental surgery.

The only good thing was the 20% discount and the exit out...

I booked the venue for a private party upstairs in April 2022 for May 2023. I went 1 week before our party she hadn't got us down for booking. I had show the manger conversation. Then told us because we were having a band we couldn't have it upstairs. She said we could have the back end of the pub. When paying for the band at a cost we wanted it private. We had a few there customers walking threw our party. Her partner was a great help setting up. We had a few issues with are food he helped us out. So big thanks to him. The lady and 2 young girls were brilliant help that evening too. We left some things there and went to pick them back up the following day soon they opened. So wouldn't cause any inconvenience. Manger was sitting at a table she never acknowledge us. Never asked if we had a good night. We found out the manager had booking upstairs on the same night as us. So I think she needs to sort out her management skills and be more organised. We felt like we had been screwed over....
