Unfortunately a very disappointing meal today .. My brother was over on holiday so decided to take him to the Greyhound as we have had good meals before .. A table of 5 from Sunday lunch menu … service was slow and not exceptionally busy .. 4 meals came out we asked for the beef to be well done as normally rare so no problem there and was told the 5th meal was on its way..we waited a while and was just about to ask was it coming when a young lad said they had only done 4 meals and missed off the 5th but couldn’t remember what it was … A burger !! By this time the rest of us were half way through our food..the beef was rare and they had run out of cauliflower cheese that was meant to come with the roast - but didn’t tell us! We would have brought this to their attention but NO ONE came to check … when we had finished our food still no sign of the burger !! Had to go to ask .. the young staff were lovely and doing their best .. but the manger was aware of the problem and sat there and did nothing just let her staff deal with it so not even a sorry from her … we didn’t pay for the burger and a ruined meal with my brother as the whole point of eating out is actually eating together which unfortunately we didn’t …...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars to this pub I would. I arrived with 2 hungry children for a roast and had booked a table for 1.30pm. Because the kids were so hungry we arrived early (12.45pm) and the pub had 20 diners maximum. We were told by a very rude lady (who transpired to be the manager) that we had booked at 1.30pm we would have to wait until then to order. At 1.50pm they came out into the garden to say our 2 x kids roasts and 1 x adult roast would be at least another 15 minutes bearing in mind they just beed to slice the meat and put the vegatables and gravy on the plate. I have never been so disgusted with the service I have received in a pub in my life. We asked for a refund and left for another local pub as I was so angry at how a dad with his 2 hungry kids had been treated. These staff need to learn that working in hospitality means just that “hospitality”!! Suggest some serious staff training is required in how to make customers feel welcome and not an inconvenience...
Read moreA nice country pub, we visited for Sunday lunch as a table of 6. Most of our party had meat roast dinners which were large portions and were good quality. Another member of the party had burger and fries which they enjoyed.
I had the vegan nut roast option, which was quite disappointing looking (see photo!) a small portion with 3 tiny, hard potatoes! It honestly looked quite miserable. The nut roast itself was very tasty, but it was a bit sad to have something so sad looking compared to everyone else’s huge portions and Yorkshire puddings. There were also no clearly marked vegan options for desserts or milk alternatives for coffee which was a shame.
The service was very good, all members of staff were polite and cheerful...
