Still needs work - We have been visiting the Witterings for years now and have had a few meals in the lamb inn. The decor is good and cosy, as you would expect from a local pub. Although there's effort in the menu descriptions, more needs to be done with the taste of the food, if we are totally honest. Missing in flavour, the end result is lacklustre at best, yet the prices are above average. With drink and food, four adults and two kids we didn't seem much change out of £200. Plus we couldn't understand why they use sardines instead of prawns, never heard of tempura sardines before? Piri Piri chicken was just grilled chicken, must be cost cutting! We understand that costs have risen but wouldn't have expected the taste to drop at the same time either. Again maybe cost cutting? That said the staff are attentive and friendly, as with the benefit of allowing well behaved dogs too, which is helpful for our pooch. Time will tell but hopefully we will experience a tasty meal one day, if we decide to return....2/5

I recently visited The Lamb and, unfortunately, left feeling quite disappointed. We ordered a portion of fish and chips, kids meal and two burger dishes. While the food was okay, I was shocked to see each dish priced at £23 on an average. For that price, I was expecting either outstanding quality or generous portions—ideally both. Unfortunately, the portion sizes were average, and the quality didn’t justify the cost. It just didn’t feel like good value for money. To add to the letdown, I was initially hoping to order a pizza, but I was told it would be at least a 60-minute wait. That was quite disappointing, especially as it seemed like a basic option on the menu. Unfortunately, they don’t offer many “lamb”dishes, and there’s no stack of ribs on the menu either. I’m always happy to support local pubs, but in this case, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. I hope they review their pricing and service times moving forward. Just leaving an honest review for others who might be planning a visit.

Stopped off on the spur of the moment with our twi dogs and had a lovely lunch. Quite a few unusual items on the menu, my posh chicken sandwich followed by ice cream were excellent. The staff were great at getting us new water bowls as our stupid puppy is going through a phase of digging it all out! Not the most accessible pub: as is common for very old buildings, the toilets are just standard ones it seems. However the car park has disabled spaces right by the garden and rear entrance, so suitable for many with just a couple of high threshold type steps to get to the toilets. Looks like evenings or peak time would be good with a big lamb roaster outside, but not on for a midweek lunch unsurprisingly. All in all a great place to stop before or after the lovely Wittering sands beaches which are also dog friendly, a large part all year round.

This is the third year we have ended a family day trip (4 children and 6 adults) with a visit to this establishment; usually greeted with good service and good food, sadly not on this occasion and we will not be returning. The main issues started with a very long delay in half of our order arriving. We were accepting of the noted time difference between pizzas and other items off the menu but over 30mins was unacceptable. On asking politely when the remainder of our families order would be arriving our server said she would speak with the kitchen. Again a long period of time lapsed with no communication and finally I asked to speak with the manager. This was not a very obliging conversation with the question of what was my order being barked at me repeatedly and my concerns not willing to be heard, or an apology given - until I blatantly asked for one. The food did arrive shortly after this, but sadly the evidently rushed food was accompanied by under cooked fries, which had to be replaced on our request. We did not feel we could tempt faint with dessert. I asked to speak with the manager prior to the bill, which I did away from my party, a vague apology was give with the excuse of the mixed order pizza and main menu and a busy kitchen. A discount was offered but very inconsequential for the issues and on discussion a slightly better percentage was agreed. I will not recount the whole conversation but a classic quote was ‘you did book at 6pm on Saturday night what did You expect’ I expect whatever time of day the same level of service, I expect the same quality of food, I expect good communication and honesty and sincerity when something goes wrong. When the bill came it was too difficult to see if discount had been applied: no simple subtraction of a %, a questionable itemised receipt totalling over £154. Simply...

Not sure how to start this one ,7 in our party wednesday 20 th Juy 2016 table for 7.pm previous day. Placed our order and then waited and waited for our food while people were being turned away we thought because they were busy but then relised there were many empty tables. We chased up our order twice and were told that they were very busy????? Eventually our meals arrived over an hour and a half later - three linguini all very different, one fish and chips with partly cooked chips, one salad with raw asparagus, one burger with huge quantity of pesto sauce that should have been on the salad! One seafood mix starter as a main almost acceptable. I asked why my meal had no prawns and was then given two prawns that were only partly cooked leaving raw sections. We then decided that enough was enough complained again and agreed to return all the food and leave. We were only charged for bar drinks and were given the wine bottle we had ordered. Quite a horrible experience staff clearly not being honest about their circumstances we think they had no chef at all that evening and that they should have told us they could not provide reasonable food. Our friends had eaten there befor and had similar complaints about the standard of the Linguini meals always being different compared to the menu description - great pity for an area that deserves better quality - will never return and never recommend it. The current owners should sell up and move and let proper caterers in!!!!! My best advice to them and their staff never try and bluff your way through you dont know who you are serving! PS I had to mark one star on this review or the review would not be posted i reluctantly have given the lowest score possible so that the...

So out for a little celebration meal and decided to try the lamb inn with my other half. Quick summary food was very good, other things not so good. Long summary.... Called and tried to make a booking and was told it was walk in only. The phone manner was brusque to the point of a bit annoyed sounding. We got there and found the car park was full. It is quite a reasonable sized car park but we hit it early evening and obviously busy and bustling. With a brief wait we did find a spot and then headed in. The front of house manager was also rather brusque and short saying there was only one table inside. Obviously a busy evening but it didnt feel like a friendly welcome. We went in and settled down and were handled by one of the waiting staff, who was bright and friendly, very quickly. Sorted us with drinks in a cheerful way. This was a bit more like it! Our food also came quickly. It was well presented, really nicely cooked and the portion sizes were good to just slightly large. Enough to feel full but not too uncomfortably stuffed. So food highly recommended. But....the toilets... My other half used the toilets and was really disappointed. Sanitizer was outside the toilet so no chance to sanitise the seat, handles etc. It was apparent the toilets were pretty much forgotten about. Not looking clean and lots of used toilet rolls littering the place. It's such a shame when that happens as it sets the tone of the place (having a couple of daughters I've learnt to use it as a judge!) So if they can up their game on these other things then it would easily be 4 or even 5 star but our experience...
