Hidden Gem! We were on our way home from East Sussex to Hampshire and desperately wanted to stop somewhere for a nice cup of coffee and a cake. Avoiding Chichester we found this little beauty on the map and decided to head out. Despite it being super busy and practically full (would recommend ringing ahead just to avoid disappointment), the wonderful waitress squeezed us onto a little table out in their yard with a bench either side. We ordered two iced coffees (not on the menu, but were made to order with coffee ice cream and coffee), and two fruit scones with jam and cream. Needless to say we weren't disappointed, the iced coffee was absolutely to die for and was so tasty and refreshing, absolutely what we needed whilst we were sat in the sun. The scones came out not too long after and were still warm from the oven. Perfectly cooked with a lovely crunch on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. It came with a pot of Roddas clotted cream (is there any other?) and a little pot of strawberry jam. Both were delicious and generous portions for the scone and over all we thoroughly enjoyed it (I love a good fresh homemade scone). I would absolutely recommend this little hidden gem to anyone driving past or who doesn't mind a trip out of the town. There is a nature reserve and Kingley Vale only 5 minutes drive down the road which makes for a wonderful afternoon. Staff were really accommodating and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The waitress even came and offered us a table under a parasol once they had one free as the clouds soon disappeared and the heat ramped up. These small gestures truly stick with us as it reflects the staff caring about their patrons and making that extra effort to make us welcome. Please pop in for a visit you will not regret it!

My first (but certainly not last) visit was for their Easter afternoon tea - a group now nine with varying mobility and dietary requirements, all perfectly catered for with no fuss, even when only presenting with the challenge on the day we attended. Service was fantastic, and it was easily the most delicious afternoon tea I have ever had. It was fresh, warm, tasty, and really well laid out with decent portions for everyone. Exceptional value for money, and I'll be going back for breakfast within weeks. So many great places to eat in and around Chichester but I can see this very quickly becoming a monthly favourite. Highly recommended (and doggy friendly)

A real gem of a place, located in a beautiful part of West Sussex. Wellies Tearooms is a wonderful place for a spot of lunch. In the summer, you can also sit outside on the decking (A preferred spot for the passing cyclists). The menu (Featured in my pictures) has a nice selection and the food we’ve had here has always been top notch. On this occasion, we had items from the main lunch menu, plus a glass of bubbly to celebrate the festive season (not myself, as I was the designated driver). I would recommend this place to everyone, but if you turn up and it’s busy, don’t be surprised, but it’s worth the wait!

The venue and the food was lovely!!! A group of us went for breakfast. Unfortunately, we was greeted by a very rude women who asked if we had booked and didn't know if she could fit us in due to all the bookings. On there website, it says you can pop in but that was not the attitude this waitress gave us. She managed to give us a table but told us we wouldn't be able to stay for long. We ended up staying for 2 hours, as the whole time we was there, most tables were empty, even the reserved ones and upstairs was also empty. She was turning people away when tables were sitting nearly empty for a couple of hours. It only started getting busier around 11:30. But I have to say that both the young and older gentlemen who served us were lovely and looked after us very well and did not rush us at all. They made us feel very comfortable. The older women with short blondish hair needs to learn people skills as it made my group feel very awkward and uncomfortable. If it is booking only, please state that on your website instead of saying that walkers and cyclists can pop in for food and drink, only to be given attitude by some women because we have not booked. I couldnt believe it to see that it looks like the same women has negatively popped up on quite a few of these reviews. They may want to look into that. My group said they would not return due to this womens rudeness but if that changed, I think we would definitely come back as that was the only issue for...

Overall experience, not good. I would not recommend this venue to visit for a special treat. On arrival: Friendly greeting. At the table: Nothing special, No table cloth, non of the crockery matched, we had to ask for a folk to eat a cake, as there wasn't one on the table. Food: Not impressive, the eaten mess was served in tiny flutes, with approximately one centimeter square of meringue sprinkled on top of some cream, one strawberry cut into pieces and a blueberry. The scone was very small, hard, over cooked and fell apart when cut, even the currants were hard. There was no cupcake, it was replaced with a small sponge with butter icing on top, which looked like it came from Bookers, as it was still in its little box. Clearly not a cake cooked on site as advertised. Upon leaving: The member of staff was curt and abrupt, the complete oppositefrom our arrival greeting. The bill was higher than we had expected. When this was questioned, we were told it included a 10% service charge. We were not informed of this when booking over the phone. Although after checking their website afterwards, it does say there is a service charge. I do not feel we had the best experience or...
