This is a very exciting new place is a magnificent setting .expect a warm welcome from Will and the team they have the right balance of formal professional service with a friendly manner .|First to the bar and Callum serves the fuel for a fantastic evening .|We really went to town and had the tasting menu ,well worth it if you are into a world class dining experience,…trust me when I say “this is up there “.|We joined a busy restaurant, so make sure you book, word is out and there is a growing fan base for this pearl that sits in Sussex downs only a short hope from london .|The rooms are excellent warm welcoming and very sumptuous . No surprise the whole place has been getting good reviews from the national press .||I woke up with 2 feelings, well rested from an truly excellent fine dining experience, I really mean it …this food will blow your mind along side the tasting menu there is great options and my vegetarian wife was very happy with so many wonderful options .| 2nd feeling was one of feeling quite smug about having discovered this place and been in early .We will be back with friends and family this is a great treat destination for lovers of food , comfort ,style and service or just lovers .||Will and his team plugged in the Lecce car and we had a wonderful walk . I think we got lost and met some alpacas or was it lamas not sure ,but it all added to the fun . If you can try the full English , it’s another level . We loved being among the staff and feeling there enthusiasms for this place …it...
Read moreWe’ve been to the White Horse a number of times over the past few years, both before and after the recent refurbishment. The quality of the cooking has always been very high and the service levels exemplary, particularly from Will. You can imagine our disappointment then when we visited for lunch over a warm Friday in July, to find that both food and service levels had suffered. The new chefs have produced fine dining quality food but to a level which leaves you both hungry and bemused by their focus on fussy “cheffy” food. One of our group had the Sussex Wagyu beef which was under cooked and gristly. The accompaniments of lovage and potato were tasty but failed to justify the stellar price. A starter of Selsey lobster was tasty but again the portion size was minuscule. The addition of Oscietra caviar elevated the sound of the dish but added little to the overall flavour, and again failed to justify the price. Most concerning however was the service which seemed surly and slightly resentful. Our request for sparkling water was greeted with a “tut”, our request for the wine list was greeted with a look of disapproval, and our request to split the bill 50/50 seemed to create annoyance to the waiter. So somewhat sadly we won’t be going back. Undoubtedly this restaurant and its rooms will be absolutely rammed during the FoS and the Revival but outside of those events we will wonder if it hasn’t...
Read moreThe White Graffham is a rare gem. Nestling in its own tranquil corner of the village of Graffham with views over the South Downs National Park. Attention to detail is exceptional; even compared to many five star hotels I've stayed in yet the atmosphere is relaxed and not fussy. The six bedrooms are individually themed and designed. We stayed in Tansey, its en suite spacious with a cascade walk in shower. The room has lots of thoughtful touches.. A fridge with fresh milk in delightful miniature milk bottles! Who doesn't like fresh milk with their morning cuppa yet so few establishments have this in the bedrooms. Dyson hairdryer, soft towelling robes and a Nespresso machine. I loved the little patio at the rear and enjoyed gazing at the stars after dinner and listening to the birdsong while enjoying my tea before breakfast. If you're looking for antidote to the hustle and bustle of city life this could be up your street! Probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in with sheets so soft that you float off to sleep. The breakfast buffet is an impressive continental affair with cooked items a la carte. I loved the honeycomb from their own hives! Very much looking forward to...
