Nice atmosphere, good location, ok service, but sadly let down by the need for a fly swat as they have a major fly problem indoors with us having to constantly wave flies off our food and out of our faces. Sadly my partners beef roast was a bit killed (charred on the edges and inedible), and the extra gravy we requested never appeared. Probably will return to give them another go though. Update: beef was exactly the same and charred and dead again but less of it, the gravy was very lumpy and the yorkshires and potatoes were horrible too, what was worse when the cook came out to discuss our concerns, they were very argumentative and my partner was shouted at and made to feel very uncomfortable. We won't be returning. They did however not charge for 2 of the roasts. Further Update: we were NOT rude at any time to your servers who asked us if everything was ok and we politely said it was not, my partner said it was one of the worst roasts she had ever had but didn't want to make a fuss. You then came over on the attack rather than saying sorry we weren't happy what can you do to help. Yes I ate all mine, after a 30 min wait, I was hungry (nor was I expecting mine to be free but thanks anyway). However, my partners lad also left nearly all of his as he didn't like it either. I didn't bother to take photos this time as it was just the same as before and we were made to feel so uncomfortable we just wanted out of there. Like I said we won't be back, not only due to your food but also your (and I mean you not your servers) terrible customer service.

Lovely country pub off the beaten track. Some very pretty areas to settle yourself into. We ate in the restaurant, whilst very nice it wasn’t as inviting and in keeping with the rest of the pub. It felt like two very different buildings. Whilst the staff were attentive I felt that their minds were elsewhere. No smiles, no warm friendly greetings just the very basic of interaction. The food was lovely with nice timings between courses. Would we come back, yes. If for nothing else just to see the staff smile and look like the customers were worthy of more than basic interaction.

Great food, lovely ambiance and service with a smile. This was our 2nd visit to the Woodmancote and we really enjoyed ourselves. Entertainment is a regular feature and our visit was on a Ladies Night with a live singer and dancing. Although way out in the countryside the place always seems busy so parking can be a challenge but don't let that put you off.

We went for Sunday lunch.

The service was ok, given that the restaurant wasn't that busy we were never left too long between courses..

The food was average at best.

My baked Camembert was lacking flavour, and my wife's mushroom rarebit had too much (in the form of mustard) which was a little overpowering. My mother-in-law's crab cakes didnt taste much of crab and were quite rubbery, like they'd been cooked earlier and then reheated.

The nut roasts my wife and MIL had were ok, but a little odd on the choice of ingredients, looking a bit like they'd been used to use up left over ingredients. I had the special roast, which was a half-pheasant. I'm no stranger to pheasant, it can be a a little light on the meat, however mine had been overcooked which made the little meat there was dry amd hard to remove from the bones.

The vegetables were well cooked and not soggy; a rarity on any Sunday roast lunch in a restaurant. The roast potatoes were a little disappointing though, again tasting like they'd been made the day before and reheated.

The deserts were good, with the chocolate brownie being refreshingly bitter, like good dark chocolate.

The price would not be unreasonable at ~£26 per person for three courses including drinks, although the average food quality lowers the value a little.

We may eat here again to give it another chance, in case we caught them on an off-day in the...

food was excellent and for that I give the chef five stars... what I assume to be the land lady was very abrupt and actually rude. someone in the group was discussing something important she snapped at them to tell their waitress.. yes the waitress needed to know but she did not need to speak to him like that. The waitresses were efficient but sour no warmth never smiled or chatted other than replying, again bluntly as the land lady had.. there had been a tip added to the bill which I was not happy about as in my opinion the only person who deserved a tip was the chef .. Children are welcome I guess but as no warmth given even to them are they welcome.. we were a group of eight.. we all felt like tins on a shelf in the supper market.. would I return I don't know as I said it was excellent food .. the staff on the other hand was a shock .. didn't smile, didn't chat and had no warmth.. this I put down to the landlady as I expect they are to scared to say anything.. yes they were efficient but so is a computer..the eating out experience should be relaxing , cheery and welcoming.. this was anything but .. I just don't know if I or my group would put ourselves through that again .. all staff especially land lady need to have some training on how to remain efficient but be less computer like and be more human.. they do this then they would get five stars...
