After being closed for a year, we’re absolutely delighted to have Lock and Quay back as our local pub—and under new management, it’s better than ever! The moment you walk in, you notice the difference: the atmosphere is relaxed, stylish, and genuinely welcoming. Whether you're after a casual drink or a proper Sunday lunch, it's the kind of place that makes you want to linger.

One of the standout features for us is that it’s dog-friendly, which means we can bring our four-legged family member along without any fuss—a huge plus in our book.

The staff were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food and the new chapter of the pub. It really felt like they cared about creating a great experience.

The food was excellent—classic pub fare done right, with quality ingredients and attention to detail. The old-style prawn cocktail was a lovely retro touch, fresh and generously portioned. The gammon steak was thick, juicy, and perfectly cooked, while the steak & ale pie was rich, comforting, and full of flavour. All this at very reasonable prices, especially given the quality.

We’re thrilled to see Lock and Quay thriving again and can’t wait to return. Best of luck to the new team—you’re off to a...

Worst Sunday Roast and Food ever!! There was a large group of us, we are local and the roast, was like Nursing Home Food, they had Frozen Mixed Veg, that looked pitiful/ Old, followed by a spoon full of Smash! And 1 tiny Roast Potato, we asked for some more which they gave. It was really poor! My son had a Margarehhta Pizza that was a frozen cheap pizza, he couldn't eat it! My daughter had fish and chips which we sent back straight away, the fish was so overcooked u could not hardly cut it. How could they even serve that, was what we all said! The waiter was understanding and we did not get charged for that or the pizza.

Its so Dissapointing as its a lovely pub, warm service, local you want them to thrive and be soo busy but the food was a complete embarrassment! How can u not serve fresh Vegetables/Mash Potato.

I want the pub to do well, however please invest in a Chef or...

Had a lovely experience, staff went above and beyond to make me and my partner feel welcome and comfortable. Having to eat outside due to covid restrictions is not the best especially when the weather is not great, however staff were very attentive and even provided me with a blanket. We arrived not long before the kitchen closed but was able to order food no problem, however we were too late for dessert I ensured the young lady serving us this was no issue but she went and asked anyway and the cook went out of his way to provide us with dessert. The food was exceptional and we were impressed with how nice it was not just the standard pub grub we were expecting. Presented nicely and cooked perfectly. Left feeling full and happy after a perfect 10 out 10 experience. The staff are a fantastic representation for the pub. Thankyou...

Not a local and was on a solo trip staying in the area. I popped in here on opening night for a few drinks and to listen to the live music they had on for the evening. The music was great, the drinks were reasonable priced. The staff are lovely and friendly. The locals were up dancing to the music which was a good vibe. The locals were friendly and chatty, giving recommendations of places to walk etc. The pub has a lovely seating area out the front and also the back. Shame there was rain to not be able to fully enjoy it. The pub was serving a taster menu as it was opening night. I unfortunately didn’t try any as popped for a Chinese before hand but the food I saw on other peoples places looked lovely. Would defo pop back in here if I was ever staying in the area again.

Went today for the Sunday Roast. Was absolutely AMAZING. We had a starter and a main. My mum had the prawn cocktail and beef roast. Both of which she said were fantastic. I had the soup of the day and the pork porchetta. Everything was just full of flavour and the portion sizes, were huge. My son had the kids tomato pasta and chocolate brownie and ice cream. He loved it. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Checked on us a couple of times, to make sure everything was OK, which we appreciated. Recommended this place now to numerous people. Will definitely be coming back. Well done and thank you to you all 😊
