The Red Lion — Restaurant in Chorley

Although on the surface this place may appear in need of a little TLC don't let that put you off. The welcome is friendly and you instantly feel wanted. The bar is small and very cosy, currently showing Euro 2020. There are benches outside that catch the sunshine even late afternoon but also a dining conservatory at the back which, although a little neglected due to the pandemic, is a comfortable place to eat. The food-we had - steak- was absolutely delicious and great value too.Sticky toffee pudding was also scrumptious served with vanilla ice cream. Don't bother, after 45mins waiting for our food, I asked the waitress if they had forgotten our order, she explained it was just being plated up, this was a lie. After an hour I asked the waiter where our food was, he told us they had forgotten the order and it would be with us in 5mins, 15mins later we walked out. Service was fine. Food was nothing special but OK. They don't have a Wine list so you don't know the price of drinks before ordering, or even the selection available. I was offered just one brand of cider but later saw at least one other. I was ultimately charged for the cider I didn't have!
