Berechurch Arms — Restaurant in Colchester

I've never ordered a drink here so I can't say I've even seen the bar BUT that's because I usually stand guard with the children outside and magically a drink is delivered into my hand by my husband. I absolutely love this place because of the grass and play equipment. Nappy changing facilities in the toilet. Large open plan space inside for people to eat. The front would be good for adult meet ups and sun bathing with a drink. Out in the back is just great though. Parents could easily have a play date here when the weather is great. My toddler gets to mix with other kids and go off getting worn out having the time of his life. My older teen wasn't even shy and went on with him and might have cracked a smile but probably not. An absolute wonderful experience we had a range of foods from rodeo burger fish and chips and 2 kids meals of goujons. Everything came out hot infact steaming hot. We all enjoyed everything. The fish was crispy to the last bite and that was after vinegar and tar tar sauce... I was going to leave with justvthisbjust was tempted by the home made apple crumble and an amazing price. I can't eat sweet stuff normally even though I want too. Anyway we will be back to try the chilli jacket potatoes..... We popped for lunch on a Saturday and the pub is huge. There is a restaurant section, pool table, large tvs everything. The menu was what you would expect for a pub with the usual items, which was fine. However when we came to order they had run out of a few things so we had to order our second choices. The food was fine and it came quickly, the service was really good! I feel that they also had a lot of new staff as it took a while to get a coffee and it wasn't great.

If I could just review the service it would be 5 stars but lack of menu items and new staff had an impact.
