The Bonnie Blue Oak — Restaurant in Colchester

I was invited to a family breakfast at the Bonnie Blue Oak this morning. The table was booked for 10.15am. We did not get served until well after 11am and then the food we ordered was not what we got and it was cold. It seems the only excuse was they were busy. It was pathetic.If I had been paying the bill I simply would not have paid. This pub should not advertise itself as a place to get food. I’ve attended two events/functions at The Bonnie Blue Oak now and both times the staff have been so welcoming, accommodating and friendly. Especially the man behind the bar, he’s a right laugh and made sure everyone was okay at all times(I’m guessing he’s the owner). This place has a great atmosphere to it, it’s very good value for money too. Would definitely recommend it for events/functions or for a drink on a Saturday night with your friends. Wow what an epic pub Sunday lunch!

We had stuffed jalapeño peppers, whitebait and calamari to start .. very tasty.

The mixed meat roast was generous and comes with all the trimmings and is available standard size which we had) or large if you’re up for it.

The atmosphere was friendly and the servers are charming.

Food and drink are reasonably priced with plenty of choice.

We have also had wonderful full English...
